Yea I love the older ones too and they newer ones. They have pro and cons. Sure its not the original but its a class of its own I think smile.gif I love the newer body is all. I like modern thumb.gif opinions opinions opinions

Thanks, yea they were willing to help. My family thought i was crazy lol. Her dad thinks this is overkill with the paint and sanding but he knows how well it will turn out since bad in the days he did the same stuff but with cars.

I work in about 2 hours so time to finish wet sanding and prep for painting later tonight. =)

Update:

Hey guys so the project is coming alone great. I don't have pictures just yet to upload as they are all at my girlfriends house. I'm really focusing on taking my time and finishing the painting. It is a lot to do lol.
I got almost everything painted. I have to wet sand the first coat of orange and then repaint everything with a small light coat then let it all sit for a week or two before i can even begin to touch it or mess with assembling it. I might do a clear coat but I don't know how it will react with the glossy orange. Might have to do a test spot on the scrap piece of metal i have from cutting the door. Btw the door is cut. i spend a good 4 hours working on that and really perfecting it to make it as pro looking as it could be and man is it clean cut. I don't want to use u channel as I think it looks ugly and doesn't do a good "job" of "hiding" imperfections in your cuts. It still bumpy even with the u channel on. So no u channel for me.

The cast acrylic comes Thursday =) and I came up with a really cool new idea thumb.gif but that will have to wait till the painting is done. More surprises for you guys. Lets just say it comes from the mustang Itself and requires soldering and drilling. tongue.gif

I am swamped with work =/ i work non stop for the next week and trying to find time to just get the project done is going to be hard really. I will keep you guys posted when I can. Pictures to follow this post soon I promise. I spend the whole night Monday just painting. All night. A good 4 hours just trying to get everything done so I can move on to the last coat and let it sit for the required two weeks it needs.

Time for bed as I have school tomorrow night. I might be able to get something done before school. We will see.

Oh and btw the orange is just sooo sexyy lol the first piece i painted made me just fall in love with the paint color even more. Might be the fumes getting to me wheee.gif

Update:

K here is an long over due update. Sorry life happens guys. rolleyes.gif

It will be mostly pictures of what you guys missed. I only have a little bit of time before bed and then work. Tomorrow i will have time to finish as much of the painting as I can so it can sit for the next few days before clear coat maybe...still have to do my clear coat experiment with some scrap metal i have left over from the door.

Ok it is picture time.

450
Pre cut hole and ready to go with the jigsaw. I bought a 25 or 30 tpi...(cant remember right now) blade for it. It cut soo smoothly thumb.gif

450

scrap metal for something later on wink.gif

450

My girlfriend helping with smoothing out the edges and making them straight. I had her dad cut out the door for me. He cuts really straight which is what i needed. =) i cant cut straight for crap lol

RUNN A GIRL WITH A POWERTOOL!! hehe tongue.gif jk she did a good job. I finished the edges off with sandpaper. 220, 600, 1500 and primed the door.

450

450

here is what i have painted so far. After it dried i moved them to another room that is the perfect temp all the time. Not to hot, not to cold, good humidity and lots of sunlight! thumb.gif Perfect drying room!

Don't mind the old flashback furniture lol They don't bother updating the house cause money is tight and they plan on selling the house anyways as it is cheaper to rent these days than owning a house.

450

All the orange glory! =) Wetsanding and final coat is tomorrow after work!

700

Motherboard tray. God the white came out perfect! I don't know why but i don't even have to sand it! its perfect smooth. Why cant all spray paint be like that! lol I did spend a lot of time wet sanding it as it is a huge piece to work with. A lot of "curves" if you might say.

450

Acrylic came in today as well as my samples for something else i had in mind. I plan on having a lit up OCN flame on the back panel door like a 6 x 6 or so. Not too big. Just perfect size. If you are wondering the acrylic piece i bought is 12 x 25 cast acrylic. Cost me about 25 bucks. Not bad. shipping killed me. plus the one dollar samples too. came total to 40 bucks shipped from wayyyy up north.

450
I had to remove some of the metal from the door in order to get the Acrylic to fit properly You will see what i mean below in the after picture.

450
All cut. Time to clean it up and sand till its super smooth. Even if no one sees that part. I OCD over this stuff. lol.

450

Acrylic all cut and test fit! Looks amazing! Btw the acrylic is tinted light gray.

That is it for now. More tomorrow i hope if i get a chance.

I need help on lighting. I am thinking white led's but I'm clueless on the led's for my CPU block. I don't want to go red as i think red is too much. My whole inside of the case is red.

I was thinking purple. Orange and purple is pimping lol. so it would be white led's with purple accents for CPU block and what not.

I have UV lights for late night gaming too. I could order a pare of each led and test to see what is best.

till next time biggrin.gif

Sorry about the above gibberish, my cat jumped up, stepped on my keyboard, and jumped of, right as I hit reply...lol

Anyways, I like the progress you have made thus far, it really is looking quite fine! I was wondering tho _bigboss, why not cut out a bigger cpu hole on the tray like the newer editions? Also if you cut out the honeycomb grill on the rear panel exhaust fan mount and / or the bottom two fans, its sure to increase airflow (meanwhile trapping less dust) and damn doesn't it look good too. You can also mod the front panel to mount two 120mm fans instead of a choice of either a single 120 or 140... Just some ideas, its probably a little to late for any suggestions tho, seeing as how its already been painted.

Thanks for the idea's I might do a few of them later on. It depends when i get all the painting and preassessable done. As for the cpu hole im fine with how it is now. I mean yea its a little tight when installing your backplate but its already installed. The only benefit i would receive would be more area for a fan to cool which I might mod the back fan from a 400mm to a 120mm fan. But then again it goes with the watercooling part. I don't need as much airflow as I use to have. I have the bottom res pulling air into the case and an intake fan on the front and the top res and back fan do all the exhausting.

Like i said i most likely will do some of these ideas but not until i see the need for it when I preassessable the case back together. Its not like i cant repaint it thumb.gif

I dust my pc a lot once a month. It's a ocd thing lol. I Like to keep the PC clean and dust free tongue.gif

I didn't get to do anything today. My work gave me an unscheduled shift. I had to fill in for someone so I was at work for 12 hours thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

I don't mean to throw your ideas in the dirt man haha I love suggestions that would make this build amazing and I will take those into consideration.

What do you think on the LED's I might just go RGB rolleyes.gif then I can have any color i want! biggrin.gif

I didn't get a chance to show you the update guys. My work is short people and are having me filling in the missing spots which means more money for me thumb.gif but less time to work on this project mad.gif or free time. It is cheaper for them i guess not to hire new people and make me work.

I did however finish wet-sanding the first coat and cleaned the parts. Resprayed them and was good to go. I finished priming the side panel doors, wetsand and painted them! thumb.gif then while they dried an extension cord I used as a backlight fell and landed on the side doors =/ so I have to sand them anyways but still bothered me. The only thing I have left is to touch up on the white parts I painted, finish the second coat on the side doors, do some touch up on the black as some of the orange leaked from the fan grills into the other side.

As for my surprise! I decided to paint my rat 7! I love the new rat 7 infection and the orange highlights like his.

I will post pictures when I can. I keep forgetting to take pictures and take the camera home. I’ve been trying to finish the painting so it can sit for a while to cure. I will post my pictures when I can.
I will be ordering some new parts soon so I will keep you posted

I got home from school and came to check up on the paint. Sigh looks like i need to do some touch up work on 3-4 parts. No bigy just means i need to find more time to do this. Also I am out of paint. So off to lowes someday it is!

I cant wait to finish this and assemble the case. Going to be one rewarding day!

As for pictures! i have some for you guys

450

Taking the rat 7 apart for painting! thumb.gif

450

finally a proper picture to show you the color of the orange. Was having a hard time with the lighting down in the paint booth causing he paint to look weird but I figured it out now.

450

sorry for bad picture but if i used flash it would come out to bright. I had no light in that room. Isn't wired for one lol. It is an outside sun room turned into an "extra" room. My girlfriend's painting room.

That's it for now just a small update to keep you posted. More to come soon as the days go by.
