This is my second degree. and guess what... any thing you work for and recieve a degree in, you are a professional. A senior is someone that has recived a degree and that has been working for 3 or more years. I'd sit here and argue with you but play times over, and I have work to do. Im glad there are people like you that are easly impressed with trailers like these. It lets people like me not have to work as hard, lol..

That aside, if you understand how to put a production togeather, you see that there are elements that leave me to believe its pre-rendered.
Pre-animated camera angles are a big give away. second water puddling on the roofs of that overhead shot are pointless for game play. Why are they there? because they planed the shot.
Just because they have planned shots or a certain direction for the commercial doesn't mean they can't use the tools they used for the game in the ad. Pre-rendering to me suggests making videos with tools other than those used for the game, i.e. Final Cut Pro or something to that effect. I don't have a degree in game design or anything. I'm also a crappy artist so I'm not intending to imply that I know how pre-rendering is done, but I do believe that footage is done with the games engine.

I'm gona let you and atomic believe what ever you want. I really wish I had the time and the energy to explan all the reasons I think its pre rendered but I can't. Im using the small amount of time I alot my self to this forum to work on a banner for a the clan D3 in the Game genreal section. Its my good charity deed of the month

Here is one of the reasons I think it's using the games engine.

While Major Nelson (Larry Hyrb) does work for MS, he does not work for Epic so he has no reason to lie for them or lead us to believe otherwise.

but you have to understand that, even though its using the engine, it still might not be real time. but with that information its 80% likly if thats true they used animated cameras in the with the game engine. But it doesn't explain some of the other things I was looking at..

I might eventually get this game. It looks nice but when you know the basic secrets to games its not so amazing anymore, so its kinda hard to jump on the bandwagon with all the hype. What makes this game look so nice is the quality they put in it.

Its very easy to say the entire thing was rendered in real time when no one has seen this exact footage real time. But no one has proff to say it wasn't unless you have some experience dealing with similar things. An example are TV ads. I've done enough of them that in many cases I know exactly how they made them and for a few I can point out what effects they used. Its also like a buddy I have that is a graphic designer for gap. Hes done it so much you can't sit down for lunch with him without hearin about what font they used on the menu.

Its pretty evident the engine was used for this trailer but most of the animation was doctored to the trailer and I'm boarderline on a few of the effects. If you go through it frame by frame its easyer to pick up but you gota know what to look for. Things like the last scene stick out pretty bad. Example: He jumps through a broken wall making a hole and lands a few feet from it. Then the next scene the monster comes out of the dark and shows him fighting it in a huge pitch black room. So wheres the light from the hole in the wall he was just standing next to? Eather they intentanally made a few second gap for him to move away from that hole between the 2 cuts or they doctored it. Pick your poison because both ways they had to edit it.

At best it could have been treated as a ingame cut scene, but even then its been doctored making it still pre-rendered.

So I'm not saying your completely wrong but I beleve at best its a hybrid of realtime and pre-rendering.

If you really think im being anal about it, you should talk to me when we get down to business with the studio.
If you don't know what pre-rendering is then its not much of a argument anyways.. but regardless pre-rendered or not, it will probably be one of the best games coming out for the xbox 360 anyways.
