New to Folding- Intro

Thread Starter
So I figured with my new build I would use my rig to the fullest by starting to fold at night when I'm sleeping or out and about. Just wanted to pop in and say hi. Also thanks to Zodac for helping me by pointing me in the right direction to get my GTX 670 folding. I hear we have to wait for full support of the new architecture. I'm not pushing my rig to the limits yet, due to wanting to play with my new toys rather than spend hours tryng to squeeze every drop of performance I can out of it. Still have to do the delidding project for my new i5 3570k. I also ran across some posts stating that for CPU folding it is better to do it in linux. I'll have to spend some time to research setting up a proper VM for that. Never have used virtual clients before. Anyways, hi and thanks in advance for accepting me into the community!

When you want to get a VM setup, look here -> http://www.overclock.net/t/1259412/win-7-how-to-get-140k-plus-ppd-from-your-overclocked-3930k-on-windows-7/0_20
There's all you need to get a Linux VM setup to fold. Even I managed it yessir.gif

Welcome.

Quick question. Is it worth to run a VM and fold under linux if I have an i5 3570k?

It's worth it if you have a CPU with 4 or more cores, almost in all cases. ;)

Oh, and for Kepler, there's an update available. Get the v7 client, and then follow these instructions:
