Now look down to the Settings section

Now paste this underneath Settings:

VDDC_CHL8228_VIDReadback = 0
MVDDC_CHL8228_VIDReadback = 0
Got cha.
Might want to say in the first post "copy and paste this" into the text file.

Thanks for the tweaks! thumb.gif

Been wondering, what is a safe max for memory voltage on an HD 7970? In addition, if I am seeing artifacts from a high OC, are there other causes than not high enough voltage and high temperatures?

I don't think twice about running 1.7v on memory.

You've hit the limit of your chip. However on air the limits are lower than water, a lot lower.

Sadly as I had figured. Do have kraken hooked to it, doesn't ever get much higher than 63. 1215/1650, memory has really been the issue. Seems like it artifacts if I put mvddc past 1650 at any point, thermals are good. VDDC runs a 1.35v.

Hello Everyone,
I have a ASUS Ares II (7970X2) and would love a version of After-Burner that will allow up to a 1.40V adjustment on the GPU core and be compatible with the latest version of After-Burner. Asus' GPU Tweak is just alright rolleyes.gif GPU Tweak memory voltage adjustment has problems and the software is not as stable as After-burner. GPU Tweak does allow up to 1.40V for the Ares II because it is water cooled.

Mods from 2 years ago or so do not work with the newest versions of Afterburner.

Hoping someone out there can lead me in the right direction smile.gif

Thanks,
Cool Mike

Thanks for the info KaRLiToS. Loaded Trixx. Here's what I am seeing.

I Set everything to default speeds.

MVDDC voltage comes up as 0 volts.
VDDC is normal for the Ares II - 1.256V

1100Mhz Core
1650Mhz memory

3Dmark11 runs fine.

Now if I move the memory voltage up from 0 (0 should be 1.60V) to 1.65V to run memory at 1800 I freeze in 3Dmark about 3 seconds in.

Edit: Memory not causing the freeze. its GPU core.

Note: 1800Ghz memory on afterburner works fine at 1.65V. I am concerned about the memory slider bar showing 0 volts.

Thanks

EDIT: looks like GPU core is not changing. I can move slider to say 1.35V just fine with core freq set to 1250mhz and 3dmard freezes 3 seconds in.
move speed down to 1175mhz (which will run that speed at stock settings) and runs fine. seems like voltage is not changing at core.
