2D profile: click reset then save to preset 1

3D profile: whatever you want here

So just to make it all clear, I have installed the MSI AB patch thingy, then I would disable powerplay, and setup the profiles right? Should I also disable ULPS?

Thanks!

EDIT: 2D Clocks seem not to matter since it still shows 300/150. My only questions are How do I show the Automatic Profile Management tab? And will this make consistent 3D clocks under gaming? Thank You so much for the help.

FINAL EDIT: NEVER MIND I GOT IT!!!!! RTSS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE INSTALLED. Thank You tsm106

Most definitely. It is required with unofficial method.

You must set your 2D clocks or preset 1 to the default settings.

Are you asking where is the Profiles tab? Hit settings and move across the top of the window to the profiles tab.

Hmmm, this is not looking good for AB Beta users. It seems there's been a change to put it lightly in Unwinders stance and profiles as we knew it has been removed. I haven't noticed till now because I use the gold version. I guess doing things manually have its benefits. thumb.gif

I seem to have followed all of your instruction to the T, but I still am not able to see 2D clocks acting out when I'm doing 2D tasks. It still runs at either full 3D or 500/150 that would have stock 3D clocks.

I don't know if I should click which preset to hit apply on or what actually to do once I have selected my 2D clocks and 3D clocks. My 2D is at stock clocks whilst my 3D is at OC clocks.

I would also want to know if the 2D clock can actually allow for 300/150 2D clocks which used to be standard, but now, 2D clocks are at 500/150 which just causes extra heat that I don't really need.

Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure I actually see a problem and it's doing what it's supposed to do.

You don't want the gpu running at 2D clocks (default clocks). For the record nothing actually runs at default clocks, there are two other powerstates that we have no control over. Anyways setting the 2D profile to your default clock is a method to allow the card to kick into low idle powerstate, typically 300/150 or 500/150. These clockspeeds are what you want on the desktop. Btw, 500/150 vs 300/150 should not make a noticeable difference in temps.

Single screen clocks should be 300/150 and dual or higher is 500/150. Now the difficulty is that you have a boost card and that combined with AMD's perplexing stance on overclocking has created a lot of issues due to the way boost functions under load. I assume something is preventing your card from dropping al the way down to low idle of 300/150 but with the boost bios, who knows whats going on. With a reference or non-boost card this method works and is quite reliable. Given this I can understand where Unwinder is coming from. It's not AB that is broke, its what AMD has done or is not doing.

Oh another thing to test is if your card can actually get down to the lowest state, 300/150. Close AB, and run gpuz. Leave the machine idle on the sensors tab and wait for the clocks to drop. Is it hitting 300 or 500?

Btw, one trick I use is I don't even run AB on the desktop. It's only when I play a heavy duty game that I click the shortcut to AB on my startbar. This way on the desktop I don't have to worry this or that, then when it's time to frag, run AB so I have my OSD ingame.

^^Yeap, not surprised anymore. I don't even run AB till I decide to play a game. AMD has really juiced up what was once called powerplay, like its on steroids. I'm not sure what name they are using for the powerstates anymore.
