The AMD How To Thread - Page 40

Oh sorry,

for  7970's 4.6 or 4.8 work very well.

When you use AB read the guide by TSM106 on page 1

I have got the best results for heavy (pushing to the limit) for benching with AB, but for gaming OC'ing Trixx is a bit more stable. Do some experimenting however, but this has been my experience with a lot of different cards in a lot of configurations.

I would just keep Asus 'Tweak' out of the mix, it does not play well with others.

Hmm, thanks for the quick reply... Ok i guess the latest r better then.. does it still permit u to change voltage like modified older Trixx? Another question, i remember there's a program like Trixx from HIS, called something like IceQ Turbo. Looks very similar to Trixx thou. What u think? Should i use it instead since its the maker of my cards...

A lot of that depends on the card you have and the VC. I have not used the software you mentioned but so far I have found that Trixx is the best designed OC software ( as well as MSI AB)

Try The HIS though and see what nets you the best result.

You can also get into BIOS flashing...but that's a whole other discussion

Sorry if this kind of hi-jacks what he is asking but....

Is trixx what you are using for those 290x's? I'm looking for a good bios/utility for my 290x... I'm at around 1150/1500 for +100mv in AB and I want more!!!!!!

Hi There,

After hundreds of hours of experimenting,I am Partial to MSI Afterburner and TRIXX depending on what I am trying to accomplish. and yes they are what I use for my R290X quad setup, and my quad 7970 as well. I have go the highest clocks and the least headaches with these two applications.

Once you overclocking the gpus with AB or Trixx, once your done overclocking and testing and good with the overclock, do you have AB or Trixx run on window start up to keep the setting all the time or do you uninstall it and set it in CCC for good?...
What is the reasonable voltage to use without degrading the gpus once overclocked??
Hmm.. my gpus are underwater btw.. so i just like to overclock it and set it.. so i can overcome anything i throw at.. but i don't want to kill it as well..

HIS 7970Ghz Edition, Stock - 1050 mhz / 1500 mem
I know that i had it overclocked at 1100 mhz at stock volt no problem... i'm trying to get stable at 1200mhz.. the volt has been climbing up toward1.35 so far.. not stable..still testing.. i just want to be safe without bricking the cards. rolleyes.gif

Nice piece of software.I am going to try it with my MSI 290X's \

as far as voltage, I like to stay at or below 1.35v for bench runs if underwater.

What is the reasonable voltage to have it on 24/7 pc.. some gaming of course.. but i mean like everyday turn on and off, no bother with voltage or overclock.. set it and forget it..... -->without degrading the gpus of course biggrin.gif

I was thinking is 1.3v the best to have on everyday?
