No and yes, as that only deals most with max reads and writes which any drive right now at 7200 rpm can do 100+ mbps like my HDDs. But the difference between my 3 platter HD103UJ and the 2 platter HD103SJ is going from max read and writes from 98 right up to almost 150mbps. And minimum drops just like all hard drives do the further out from the center the data is.
But what I wrote above is because aerial density increased per sq inch. So as Im assuming both drives probably are using 1 terabyte platters they should perform about the same even tho if the 2TB drive had 2 the only thing that would be slower is access times and u wont notice that one bit. And they wouldnt use older tech in them cause then they would be making it harder on them selves. Since why 4TB drives are like $300 is because of 4 platters holding 1TB a piece with a more heavy duty motor spindle.

Not anymore since they dont die as easily compared to 1st gen SSD. As my friend has 1 and it died with in 4 months cause he kept reinstalling windows 7 and it was a 32gb SSD to boot lol.
