600T (Fan Controller?) Issues

Thread Starter
My lights on my 600T case fans are going dark and/or off. I've tried looking around but to almost no avail. I've got the default fans from the case with my Noctua NH-D14 hooked up to it. It's not very loud at high but I like things to be really quiet so I have the 600T fan controller set to the lowest setting. Now the issue is that at the lowest setting and even up to and past the lights slowly fade out, sometimes completely and sometimes partially. It seems as if I have to have the fan controller all the way up.

I REALLY don't want to have to RMA the hulking beast of a case, so I'm going to try plugging one of the fans hooked up to the controller onto the motherboard to see if it helps at all tomorrow. Has anyone had this type of issue?
Corsair customer support are excellent and the fan controller on the 600t is known to be an issue for some. Mine has crapped out on one channel only so far but many have had theirs die on them. Corsair has sent some replacements though, without anyone having to send their whole case in, so definitely get in touch with them thumb.gif

Mine quit working 5 min. After I first turned on my system, so yes there are issues with the controller. Just go to the web site and put in a Rma ticket and they will send you a new one( I hope its a new one) my replacement should be here this week.

Something just hit me, the fan controller has 4 spots, but the NH-D14 has two fans which I put both on the Ultra Low Noise Adapter, then onto the fan controller. I always leave the fan controller at the lowest setting, but could it be that there's 5 fans on it? The front intake, top exhaust, back exhaust, and the 2 fans on the NH-D14.

It's possible that you're putting too much strain on an already weak controller.
I'd hook the Noctua fans up to the motherboard and see if it makes a difference thumb.gif

It's like 7W per slot....so how much are you trying to pull? As for the lights, of course it's going to dim when you lower the amount of power you are sending it...

I've had this computer for about a month and a half and the fans hooked up on the controller. I did move the 200m top exhaust to the mobo and it was too loud so I moved the rear exhaust and it's not as loud. I think the strain on it has pretty much killed the controller as I noticed no fans spinning when I started.

I don't know if the speed being at the minimum lowers the power draw at all but it's always been at lowest. I didn't notice the lights dim until I started having these issues. Sent in an RMA and hoping to hear back.

200mm top exhaust, 200m front intake, 120m rear exhaust, then the 120mm/140mm on the NH-D14

Not sure why no one has posted this, but the brightening/dimming is a feature of the case, I'm pretty sure it was in the manual or on the website when I owned the case. Fan controller on max = max current = brightest lights, low = lower current = dimmest lights. That is how it is supposed to work.

That said, the controller is notorious for shorting out and if your fans aren't spinning it is broken or too much power is being drawn. If they're just dimming everything is fine smile.gif.

Last, you should DEFINITELY move the D-14 off of the controller, especially if you're using the ULNAs. The ULNAs limit the current going to the fans to lower the speed, so if the D-14's fans are drawing power from your controller on low and are then cutting that current down further with the adapters they probably aren't getting enough current to spin-up unless the controller is on high. I would just attach the D-14 to the motherboard - it'll still be dead silent, especially with the ULNAs, and if you need more airflow you can just switch out for the LNAs or take them off. I can't emphasize this enough - the 600T has limited airflow and while that heatsink is huge you don't want to blow your processor!

Thanks for the reply. Currently the front fan isn't moving and the top is almost dead on startup but when I turn the knob up it starts up and I can turn it back down. I sent in a ticket and Corsair said they'd be sending me a replacement. Waiting on that and some Vengeance LP RAM to come back.

So I've got an RMA sent in and should be getting a replacement fan controller soon. I can seem to only have 2 case fans really work at the moment it seems. If I have the back exhaust and top exhaust plugged in, the front doesn't seem to spin at all. If I plug the back exhaust and front intake, the top exhaust spins so slowly I can see individual blades pretty much.

For the time being, which would be better? Front intake and back exhaust with the top exhaust as I said, or the front not working but the top and back exhaust working?
