Thread Starter
darn, i was hoping for some better news when i popped in here today for the first time redface.gif

anyway, the cooling portion sounds promising though....zinifinion, what is the lowest and highest the fans can go? Also was the "never above 60C" during heaven benchmark?

Thanks and keep us posted if you find anything out!

Sorry if I missed this, but what kind of boost clock do you get at stock when you play something like bf3? 1137?

-thx

What's interesting is, right on the inside front panel of the box for the card, there is the section on "Triple Over-Voltage by MSI Afterburner", and it includes a screenshot of Afterburner that has sliders for Core Voltage, Memory Voltage and Aux Voltage. In other words, the shot on the box has the button you would use to open the separate voltage panel.

So, in my eyes, either the current available version of AB doesn't totally support this particular card, or MSI blew it and applied a marketing theme from their AMD lineup to this GTX 670.

EDIT -

I squinted at the screenshot on the box, and observed the following:

AB version is 2.2.1
Nvidia Driver version appears to be 301.33

The Graphics Card description is partially blocked, but it looks like it says "MSI N670 GTX Power Edition"

Of course this could just be a screen render or mockup rather than an actual screenshot, but I thought I'd mention my observations.

Bummer about voltage. Probably something in the works but still think they should have been more clear about it. I hate that kind of marketing. Regardless this will be one of the top cards to get.

I'm going to speculate here that MSI Afterburner (as well as Precision and all the other branded variants) needs an updated version perhaps for full functionality.

Did you go into settings and enable voltage control and such?

I'm sure they will release an update with the triple over voltage.

The never above 60C was indeed during the Heaven benchmark @ 50% fan. This is in a CM 690 II Adv with 2x 140mm intakes on the side, a 120mm front intake, and 2x 140mm exhaust on the top and a stock cooler (gasp!) on a 4GHz i2500k.

I don't have BF3 installed at the moment but I took a tank out in Saints Row the Third and caused some chaos. Stock clocks are 1020/1098/1163. So the 65mhz Kepler Boost (5 x 13mhz) seems rather consistent. And rather oddly low going by the other vendors' cards. Not entirely sure what to make of that.

Every checkbox that has anything to do with voltage is checked, still nothing other than Core Voltage (which did not appear until the boxes were checked) is showing.

It's still false advertisement. That's like buying a 400hp car and only getting 200.... until the issues are worked out.

pretty much every EVGA nonreference card will say "better stabler overclocking potential" because of "better components" , even though its all dependent on the chip they put in it. I would gladly pay the extra 30-40$ they want for a non-reference if they guaranteed a binned chip that does 1300mhz boosted at the least.
