Blah, I don't want to wait for a Hawk!

Both my current 460's are hawks, and while they're fantastic, I don't reeeally have a need for their features.

I want a 670 nowww. frown.gif

Hi all,

Received my MSI 670 PE Yesterday (replacing my MSI 6870 Hawk). Finally got a chance to install and play with briefly today.

I've had limited time but here is some info.

Default Core 1020 / Boost 1098 / Final Boost 1189 (as reported in GPU-Z so 'Kepler Boost' is 91Mhz)

Case Temp 30C, card idles at 28C.

Completing a Heaven Run, Fan in Auto, Temp hits 61C with Fan reaching 45%.

Overclocking has not been very successful. Max Core +55, anything higher and Heaven wont complete. Tested Mem +500 and it completes fine.

Interestingly the Heaven Benchmark Score does not improve that much with the overclocks. To be fair though at the stock speeds the card is a beast. BF3 runs perfectly maxed out even on my older Phenom X4 965 system.

When I get some time I'll do some proper testing.

You're gonna need to use manual fan at high settings for overclocking. Auto is only for stock settings, it is VERY VERY iffy for overclocking

check that out...someone forced 30% fan speed and only got 72C under BF3 load....so I would imagine 45% fan speed would do better....I'm not sure if it's overclocked, but that goes to show the potential of the TF4 cooler

That doesn't sound like too bad of an overclock. Anything over 1200 and you should be content. Mine only goes to 1228. I've got it at 1228 on the core and +450 on memory. My ASUS GTX 670 DCII non-top only hit 1202 before getting power throttled.

Hopefully we'll get some overvoltage ability with Afterburner 2.2.3 and we'll all be able to get the core a little higher.

Is this one getting power throttled for you or is it just unstable above that clock?

I've posted this elsewhere; I'll post it here as well.

Here's what mine does so far:

300

That with the automatic fan settings, and 100% use, so I figure that I could probably keep the fan at 40-45% all the time and be quite fine.

I'll do another run with 8x AA as well, I was trying to compare with somebody that had done it with 4x. tongue.gif

Not from my experience. Granted, my card will only get up to about 1240 as a max boost overclock, but running the fans on auto, the card stays in the low 60s with fans at about 43% while under load.
