MSI GTX 670 Power Edition Twin Frozr 4 cooler! - Page 52

hey guys, has anybody here tried watercooling these, using a Universal gpu block? I'm thinking of selling my Asus 680 DCII and getting one of these and putting a universal block on it.

Here's a picture of the PCB. Does that big thing on it act as a heatsink? Or do I have to remove that and just put mini-heatsinks on the vrms and ram?

Yes, mines watercooled. Just get an mcw82, the ramsink works fine with the waterblock.

So just keep that huge black heatsink cover on? How high does the VRM temp go with just that?

Sup everyone,
I just got 2 of these for sli...installed both and they are working but I wanted to know if this sounds right..

they are at stock speeds atm and I have not touched anything in AB.
I just tested it in Guild Wars 2 max settings and one card is hitting 90-94 degrees while the other never goes past 65. I hear these strange whining sounds that go up and down coming from the card with the higher temp. of course it gets really bad as soon as the fan(s) start to crank....not sure what to make of it.

At idle one card sits at 35c and the other is 49c. I have never seen such a big diff in idle temp in my history with sli configs. Anyone have any possible ideas? Could it be, because of the fan design the one card isnt getting enough cool air?

EDIT: Fixed by spacing out the gpu's on mb.

Yeah SLIing GPUs with custom fan coolers require space between them(most Z77 board does have 3 slot distance betwen PCIE3.0 so you get 1 slot of empty space between two 2 slot cards, and proper airflow(side panel fans are really useful either as intake or exhaust depend on how your GPU directs airflow). If not spaced out one card would be in taking a lot of hot exhaust from the other card.

OK, just a update on my card. I currently had have this card for 3 months (I think lol). It has giving me a lot of headaches. (1 of them are my fault) Anyways the problem I had with this card is that in certain games I will get stuttering. After figuring out the problem this card as been very good:thumb thumb.gif I have a slight winding noise at the moment only if I put my face against the case and equip my super hearing. I really don't know what this noise is (coil wind?). The noise does not increase with fan speed. Any Ideas? Thanks in advance. I am not worried about it because there is nothing wrong with temps and other problems.

If it doesn't increase with the speed of your PE's fan, maybe it's another fan in your system?
First, try to stop each fan with your finger (delicately and with the center of the fan, not in the blades). Then you could isolate the faulty fan if it is one of them.

No, not the fans...it is hard to hear really because my CPU makes a winding noise. I am using the stock Intel one right now. I know this is off topic but when I stop the fans on my intel heatsink the winding noise persist. Is it possible that my CPU is making the noise? Or is it my motherboard?

English is not my birth language, could you define winding more please? is it your cpu fan or definitely your cpu that does the sound?

Could it be something like a very high pitch sound barely audible? Cuze I've had this before, it would be the integrated graphics of your intel core which (being still activated) could push out an extraordinary high frame-rate (even if your not using it) and that makes the sound. It's just a guess, I've had this before, now I deactivated it because I bought a gtx670.

Your problem maybe something else though.

Winding in relation to noise means nothing in English. I'm a native English speaker and I'm not quiet sure what he means either lol. I believe he may mean whining, and that would be caused my capacitors and coils.
