[YT] ASUS Taichi dual screen Windows 8 notebook

At first glance, the Taichi passes for just another ultrabook, but upon closer review, the lid yields a reflective surface, that is in fact, a touchscreen. The touchscreen is a beautiful Full HD IPS display with a 1920x1080 resolution that offers crisp visuals, even from extreme angles, so it's great for sharing with friends.

If you can't turn the outer screen off, I could see that as being annoying. But I'm not sure why you guys don't like it. Needs to use it as a laptop? Keep the lid open. Want to switch it to a tablet? Close the lid and tada!

IPS 1080p on a notebook; when will it come to more devices please? Not only that, it's not even the main display and it's getting more love tongue.gif

I find it pretty dumb. For 95% of the wrk you'll do on a laptop you won't need another screen on the reverse. Not only that, the outside screen will get scratched to hell.

2 screens = extra cost for no reason. That's the problem with that, other companies done the same but with one screen and you could fold it in a way that it would be a tablet and in another way that it would be a notebook but with the same screen. Now having 2 screens while this can easily be done with one, will just drive the cost up for no reason

Why is there such resistance to change.
Combining laptops and tablets is the way forward.
why do u want a laptop and a tablet. When Ultrabook are betting so light weight, so powerful, with huge battery life and now put touch screens...
no one will force you to use it like a tablet if you don't want to.
I think its a fantastic idea.

Seems some of you are missing the point. The second screen is just their tablet-mode screen. The added functionality of having them both on at the same time is just thing that was possible, so they give you that option.

This is an alternative to the swivel-screen varieties of notebook. This one is arguably better though.

The only real problem I see is the outside screen getting scratched, but I'd imagine that's something they thought of. They probably use Gorilla Glass or something really hard to scratch.
