DVD ROM drive isn't reading BLANK discs.

Hello, first of all, I wanna apologize for posting this here, not sure if this is the right section, but I need an answer right away.
~3 months ago I bought this drive -LG DH18NS40
Today, I had to burn some stuff for school, but bam... after inserting two blan discs, both CD and DVD, the drive did not read anything, nothing happend...
I tried with discs that have information on them and they worked perfectly, the drive recognized them.

What the hell should I do? I have never ever had such a problem with any of my cd/dvd-rom devices.. there are no updates for this particular lg product, either.

I tried unistalling the drive, rebooting PC, but no results.
What might be the cause of this problem?

lol who uses cd rom or dvd drives anymore? my rig doesn't have one!

Anyways, try uninstalling and reinstalling using the latest drivers. That should fix the issue.

well, that is the best solution, but I can't find any drivers for this particular drive..
i went for the cheapest and now i regret it.

Two things you can try >>

1) There is a small pinhole on the front of the drive which resets it, use a pin or similar object to reset

Then try another cd/dvd again after ^^^

2) Try removing sata conector and reconnecting ( ive had this work before now )

Try these and see if it works again !

That's not a reset! That hole is for manually ejecting disks!

I'd try cleaning the drive's lens, with a CD Rom lens cleaning disk

I installed ImgBurn and discovered something interesting.
When I go to Mode->Read, I can see the model and the brand of my DVD-drive.
But when I go to Write,Build or Discovery it says "No writers detected".

Weird... the specs seem to indicate it should?

But NCIX doesn't have "Burner" or "Writer" in the title, which means it is definitely a Reader only.

This isn't the first time LG's product specs have been outright lies... some of their Blu-Ray players advertise Internet features 'like Youtube and Netflix', which if you buy it you'll discover excludes Youtube and Netflix. (However, if the spec page says "Youtube: Yes" and "Netflix: Yes", then it should be supported.)

DVD ROM drive isn't reading BLANK discs.

Picked these up for my TRON Legacy theme build. Got the optional light bar upgrade kit(s). Note, for a quad channel package you will need two light bar kits as each covers two sticks. No issues...
