Honestly when it comes down to it there really is not much you can do ascetically to a piece of metal or plastic to make it look pleasing.

Right now, the whole world of watch and jewelry makers are making a beeline for your house dude-get out quick while you still can lol! biggrin.gif

I agree 100% that the square, modern industrial look EK CPU block is the best looking, thats why i had to sniff around like a dog for 4 months + to eventually get one(i could have bought one from Dubai or Australia, but the total price inc postage would have been 140 euro).
But the bottom line is, that i would have much prefered to have been able to get one of the new ones with a circle(less) clear top, instead of having to go through what i did to get the older model.
No one bud-the closest atm is the Bitspower Summit EF cpu block, but that's also frosted
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f28OiMnhF8U
But anyone with the older EK cpu block (the one that wermad & i like) that has an acetal top can buy a clear one from here:
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=29171
I was thinking of getting a spare one till i found out that the postage fees were twice the amount of the price of the top (postage to europe-what a rip off!)-you will be fine, you're in the states smile.gif

It speaks highly about the customer. Which is ultimately, what a company's intention should be: to please its customers. Best way to know what interests a consumer to introduce a new design or feature/product is to ask the community. Especially the enthusiast who is the most likely returning customer.

This older EK cpu blocks are super hard to find these days.

Hey, its easy to make a gpu top. Some one has removed the csq off a plexi top and polished it up. It no longer has the glazed look and the circles are gone. I think with the right sanding you can remove it. I know polishing plexi is not too difficult and i've seen many vids on diy polishing smile.gif

The problem is that when you do this you will lose any warranty you may have. EK will not back their warranty even if you never touched the side that mates to the block. Now I am no stranger to busting warranties. But when it comes to something like this I feel that the end user should NOT have to bust their warranty to be satisfied with the Aesthetics of something that costs so much and also lose much of the resale value when it comes time to replace their GPU/Block combination because they had to resort to modding their tops.

I have no qualms modding my gear. I just don't see why EK cannot be proactive in meeting the needs and the demands of the consumer. Especially when I am one of the 75% who don't like the look. Even if I did like the look of the CSQ series, I would still be asking them to give the consumer an option. Doing so would guarantee their viability in the market. Not doing so is just another nail in their coffin imho. mellowsmiley.gif

I had promised to post some photos of an EK HF Supreme EN Block that i had stripped down to its copper base because the nickel had started to flake-i sent my block to:

http://www.lathco.co.uk/silver_gold_plating_electroplating_electroforming_ndt.html

Ask for Dave and tell him that kkorky told you about his company, he should sort you out-they also do re plating using various metals should you so desire thumb.gif

Nickel block starting to flake

Inside of the block after stripping of Nickel

Block Top

Assembled block-Job Done

Again, my sincere thanks to James, and to Dave for a job well done thumb.gif

I'm getting anxious waiting for the new full board EK-FB Asus M5E water blocks and the EK dual D5 pump top for single loops!
