Help installing Accelero Twin Turbo II on HIS reference 7870

Do I need to install any more heatsinks than these (more specifically do I need to install heatsinks on the circled objects?):

Which of the following 2 connectors do I connect to the fan header on the PCB (one has a 4th blue wire and the 2nd doesn't - I assume this is for PWM? Which do I want to connect?)

Also, I'd need to remove TIM on both the cooler and the GPU core right?
How much thermal paste would I apply on the GPU? Less than a grain of rice?

I don't seem to have the "spacers" shown here - are they critical?

Though I doubt it's absolutely necessary, I would sink the five mosfets I see in your first image (the small squarish black surface mount ICs).

Those spacers are not critical, but if there is any chance of find them or an equivalent replacement, use them. You are less likely to over, or unevenly, tighten the heatsink with them.

As for applying paste, don't do as you would with a CPU. This GPU has no IHS and even a tiny uncovered portion can cause issues. I would spread a thin later of TIM over the entire die, then put a very small dab in the middle, to better displace any air as you mount the cooler.

Sadly I just realized I have no thermal glue / tape at all frown.gif
I hope the MOSFETs and VRMs will be fine with active airflow - that's how they were cooled on the stock cooler.
The 7870 turns out to have spacers preinstalled.
Will do as you say on the TIM process.

well..this is a warranty-voiding move..but..
get some RAMsinks and arctic alumina thermal adhesive..be very careful..apply with a toothpick..very small amount..
