3570k trying to get 4.0Ghz stable - Page 2

I would suggest setting your RAM back to it's default clocks and just focus on the CPU.
Also, only leave 1 stick of RAM in while testing.

Using bios 1015, released a few weeks ago.

Fixed the forced multi, when I changed it to 42 Speedstep enabled itself and when I rebooted it indeed showed up as 4.2Ghz. Going to run a few tests now but I don't have a lot of time on my hands.

Edit: Ok, just ran 20 runs of IBT. 4.2Ghz at 1.2v seems stable. Most likely it was the high memory speed holding me back, I need to tweak some other settings for it to be stable I suppose. 1866mhz works now, but I'd like my 2200mhz back redface.gif

Doesn't that Samsung memory need a lot of vdimm to get 2200+?

Well I was running them at 2200mhz 10-10-10-28 with 1.5v. It also passed memtest that way, but I guess once the CPU is clocked higher it becomes unstable.

My goal is to hit 4.6 Ghz on my new rig. However, I cannot seem to get a stable clock past 4.2 Ghz.

4.2 Ghz - 1.159 volts - seems to run very stable. However when I try to bump it up to 4.4 Ghz, i get the BSOD and i have tried voltages as high as 1.25.
I am a noob at overclocking, but I have done extensive reading on this subject. I am stumped as why I cannot push it further than 4.2.

Could it be caused by leaving my Ram at stock voltage, which I believe is 1.5v?

Check out my rig below.
