Inastead, DDR133 was showed.

Most high frequency RAM has a lower default BOOT Frequency of 1066 MHz. or 1333 MHz. programmed into the RAM SPD. You must go into the BIOS and set the proper timings, frequency and voltage as listed on your RAM modules/packaging. Then you SAVE the BIOS update and exit.

On the next boot your RAM should be at 1866 MHz..

You need to manually o/c your memory to 1866 through the bios - if you check through the AMD section there are plenty of articles in there on how to set your memory at the correct speed thumb.gif

look at note #2 at the bottom.
it say only 1 dimm DDR1866 only, not dual channel memory.

I think you're misunderstanding the footnote.

It's one 1866 MHz. DIMM per channel. It is poorly written however as the FX does support 1866 MHz. for dual-channel operation, not just single channel.

The OP is running 2x 4 GB. which is 1 DIMM per channel. 1866 MHz. is *officially* supported for (2) DIMMs total, in dual-channel on FX CPUs but many folks have run (4) DIMMs @ 1866 MHz., dual-channel without issue.

The SPD setting on high speed DDR3 RAM typically sets the boot frequency of 1066 or 1333 MHz. to insure the RAM will boot on all desktop type PCs without issue. Then you must go into the BIOS and set the proper latencies, etc. and frequency to run at 1866 MHz. and save the new BIOS configuration. High speed RAM does not normally boot at 1866 MHz. until you set the BIOS accordingly.

Yes I've read that 1866 supported with 1 DPC (DIMM per Channel) in single memory slot motherboard designs
I think you misunderstood the sentence, It says 1 DIMM Per channel and there are two channels. Each first DIMM slot of both channel will support 1866MHz.

Even Thuban CPU can run 1900-2000Mhz with in 4 DIMM.

I get a reply from AMD technical support as follow:

Your service request : SR #{ticketno:[8200492874]} has been reviewed and updated.

Response and Service Request History:

Thankyou for contacting AMD!

The Fx 8120 supports dual channel DDR1600 Memory and will NOT support DDR 1866 dual channel memory.

1866 Memory is only supported if you are using 1 Dimm and NOTHING more.

I suggest you use DDR3 1600 2X4GB.

I believe that the information provided above will resolve your issue. If we do not hear otherwise, we will assume that the issue has been resolved and the service request will be permanently closed after 10 days. If more time is needed to evaluate my suggestion please let me know and I will ensure this service request remains open for you.

In order to update this service request, please respond, leaving the service request reference intact.

Best regards,

OK ..You have 2 options
a)Enable X.M.P. profile
b)Set RAM @ 1866 and timings manually (may involve raising ref clock aka FSB, HT link, and cpu/nb)

After i read the reply from AMD, I think of two option.

1. use 1 stick 4GB DDR3-1866.

2. buy another 2x4GB DDR3-1600.

Which way will be better?
