[TT] MSI Geforce GTX 680 Lightning Spotted - Page 21

I understand your frustration but they both are obviously keeping mum about voltage control for a reason. I still have a gut feeling that even with voltage unlocked GK104 won't see the kind of gains you guys are hoping for...
Well at least if it isn't you have another option. It seems like if MSI is avoiding the question, then there may not be a higher voltage than 1.175v, so I guess going with EVGA's price premium is something to consider. The Classified's awesomely-high voltage has been all-but-officially confirmed by reps. How much higher EVBot will take the voltage is still up in the air though.

One way or another, I see a ton of people paying that premium if this Lightning disappoints on the voltage.

Why in the freaking hell did nvidia do this voltage control crap? I like my 690 but this is GREATLY annoying me right now. Grr.

this isn't 2006. Unlock the freaking cards. Intel lets you over volt, they don't put continuous stop signs in front of you saying "F you, you can't overvolt". Sigh.... At least with the 7970s you didn't have this stupid crap.....and the added voltage absolutely did help with overclocks and that matters to a lot of us.

Sorry, really frustrated right now at the lack of answers and the game playing on the part of hardware companies. Alex, if you can chime in with a yes or no answer it would be GREATLY appreciated. Don't follow Jacob's lead, inform your customers about the voltage control above 1175mV thumb.gif MSI obviously has a big fanbase (including myself) who love the lightning cards and i'm ready to put the cash down, but I need this question answered by somebody somehow, i'm hoping you can do it.

Maybe they will release a GTX 680K, with overvolting features! -_- AMD also, even though you can volt tweak, too many anti enjoyment features included, which they are very proud of btw.

Hi~
so sorry, other vendor card, you can see like the reference card.
so it can only adj. to 1.175V.

About MSI GTX670 Power Edition triple voltage function.
Our internal test, core voltage can support and adj. to higher then 1.175V even 1.3V.
Support 670 PE version, please expect it!

Thanks.

Broken English but at least its something

So if the damn Power Edition is getting it I would certainly expect the lightning to.

ITS CONFIRMED BOYS!

SOFTWARE VOLTAGE UP TO 1.3V OR MORE WITH 2.2.3 AFTERBURNER (in the works)

From TPU forums:
Quote:
Short answer: yes
As soon as Afterburner is finished for the 680 Lightning, you'll be able to play more with the voltages.

I am not sure if it is included in Today's 2.2.2 release of Afterburner:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download...6cbf3bb153925b

But that one should at least support 670 overvoltage for our Power Edition (1.3v, up from 1.175v) so expect something like that (at least) for the 680 Lightning.

That is of course the whole design philosophy behind Lightning, do things simple.. no need to solder or near zombie-mod a card to get some extra performance. either do it simply with the flick of a switch, or through software every self-respecting overclocker in the world has used.
