Before I volt modded it, my DC II 680 reported 1.210-1.215V with a multimeter when software monitoring only shows 1.175V. Checked my Gigabyte reference and it was the same thing. Software looks to be capped at 1.175V.

Ah, so you are saying that even IF it is supplying over 1175mV that the software won't tell you that? I know that the multimeter has to be more accurate.

OR are you saying that the others are wrong and the software prohibits any card from going over 1175?

This is correct. Old MSI afterburner / precision X versions only show 1175mV even if it is higher.

Multimeter will give a correct reading, or posisbly a new afterburner version. I'm repeating what the above poster said though redface.gif Oops

There, I ran it for a longer time. As for the voltage thing, it'll be fixed soon smile.gif

Nice! Furmark @ 1332 and stays below 70C.

Tell everyone great job at Msi smile.gif

Any timeline for these hitting retailers? I know you had a couple of retail units so I was expecting today but nothing yet frown.gif

Yes the software in its current form won't tell you that. I think most cards, if not all, area getting around 1.21V at full load, even though the software caps it. The first version of Precision that shipped with Kepler had that voltage utility that let you go up to 1.215V, anyone remember that? And that's precisely the max voltage my cards would get when reading with a multimeter. Even 1.5V shows 1.175V in software tongue.gif

Sounds good. Thanks for the response. Considering Newegg and Msi are in the same city hopefully they got some today.

Just need Newegg to make all those Evga cards go away and make room for some lightnings smile.gif

I've been closely watching the evga classy threads, and I'm waiting to see the HC version drop (hoping july), but I'm guessing upwards of $799 for the HC classy + 100 for an evbot. If I wanted sli that's roughly $1700! HOLY FORK.

So these lightning boards look EXTREMELY tempting. Assuming someone comes out with a full cover block for them, it might be worth going that route instead.

However, we have no confirmation yet on 4gb versions, correct? If $549 normally (although amazon is showing 609...) that's 1100 for 2 of them, plus maybe 100 for each block (if we're lucky), putting it up to $1300 for 2x2gb. If 4gb versions are let's say $100 more (again assuming someone makes a waterblock for THAT one then), we're looking at $1500. Not bad.

BUT

Does anyone have knowledge on MSI's warranty? I've been selling their products for a while now and they're trying VERY hard to compete with ASUS and EVGA, but I have almost zero experience with their warranty and RMA process.

An EVGA HC Classy would have the benefit of being fully covered under warranty even if I OC the crap out of it, and using the water block won't void it either, especially if it's factory installed.

How does MSI compare? Will overclocking & overvolting a lightning void my 3 year warranty? Will replacing the stock cooler with an aftermarket block void it?

I want to make sure MSI stands behind their enthusiast products 100% before I'd drop $1500 on them.
