Also better service, never order from ocuk had so many bad experiences and you pay £50 more in this case.

Back from the Spa, nice and relaxed!!!

I am going to put card 1 back in and see what is up ... before that I am doing a little memory OC on card 2 ..

1328mhz
plus 350 ram

Heaven 3.0
53.6
1351
22.7
139.5

1328mhz
plus 400 ram

54.2
1365
28.2
140.5

more ram overclock than that and I get a massive slowdown and reduction in points to under 1000 score in Heaven frown.gif
(this happens around the same time in both stock core and overclocked core situations) I am thinking it is a memory chip that just has a lower limit ...

do you guys think memory voltage will help this mem oc higher?

card 1

as I mentioned has a core limited to around 1260 in stock BIOS but the memory seems to go up to plus 600 with gains ... though when pushed to the limit on core of around 1260 the memory seems to need to be reduced to closer to plus 450
(this makes me think the limiting factor might be the memory controller) does that sound plausable and do you think voltage to the core or memory might help the memory oc higher?

I have to do some more testing to determine whether card 1 has an issue ... but while I do so I am left wondering whether if I used both cards in sli and overclocked to the highest safe voltages ... would card 1's core be the limiting factor or would card 2's memory be a limiting factor?

This is all based of the fact that card 2's core clocks about 50mhz higher than card 1 at same voltage (but runs hotter) and card 1's memory seems to be able to OC much better by plus 200 or 400mhz effective but that seems to be reduced to a plus 50 advantage or effective 100mhz when both cards have their cores pushed to the max

lasty, any thoughts to whether voltage could even things out?

It seems that these cards are made fantastically well ... but I would guess the binning is not done as rigorously as could be (I also wish there was some more memory binning) ... especially for the price premium and if these cards are for breaking records better buy 5 or more and keep the best one LOL (if only the galaxy SOC was sure to get voltage control and did not need an active adapter for 120hz displays that would be the one to get!)

oh an on my Box it said it was in a lot of 40 so NE surely got more than 33 LOL

GTX 680 cards not clocking similarly is completely normal. No 2 cards will clock exactly alike - I had an EVGA 680 that clocked at 1210 max and another that did 1240. Although you can overclock them unevenly to compensate. But you will hardly ever get 2 cards that boost to the same speed.

As for first question memory voltage will help but that won't be available until the next afterburner.....core voltage won't help a memory OC (sorry might be understanding the question wrong)

No 2 cards will boost to the same speed unless you get really lucky, they do vary. So if you have 1 card clocking 50mhz lower that is nothing wrong, this is expected GK104 behaviour. ASIC quality determines boost speed and every card is different,.
As for first question memory voltage will help but that won't be available until the next afterburner.....core voltage won't help a memory OC (sorry might be understanding the question wrong)

I absolutely know that the two cards won't boost or OC to the same levels ... I am just wondering in a massively overclocked system knowing we have access to voltage and also knowing how these cards are starved for memory bandwidth (affected by memory speed) at higher clock speeds ... in an sli system which of these cards might be the biggest bottleneck to performance... I was also pubucly pondering whether enough voltage would even the playing field between these cards wink.gif

and thirdly I was stating I wish the chips were binned better , they should be hitting a 1300mhz OC on stock voltage for lightning series (IMO) thumb.gif

]

as for gpu voltage helping memory OC ... I was thinking if the memory controller was on the chip gpu that could help? (though I really do not know if nvidia incorporated the memory controller into the gpu itself as intel does with it's cpu's ... (maybe tooo much cpu overclocking LOL , though I know that would not be Vcore but other voltages)

I completely agree with that man. Theres not a whole lot that UPS does that makes sense. Im an engineering co-op at their aircraft maintenance facility and there are absolutely no perks at all to working for them ha. Cant even get a discount on their services.

I've had that same problem so many times with packages that required signatures. Knowing that I wouldnt be home you try to arrange a pickup but like you said they wont do it till the first delivery attempt is made. Hopefully they pull through soon ha.
