[TT] MSI Geforce GTX 680 Lightning Spotted - Page 72

Maybe its related to their new motherboard, the M-Power? Maybe msi will go like what evga did back then when you can change the voltages in the Eleet software?

All i know is that they will not lie, maybe their plans just got delayed, duo to 7970 ghz edition maybe.

I don't know how, knowing that one person is programming AB 2.2.3, they didn't get a card to him before release. I'm praying there is a good reason, because that just seems crazy to me.

Nice score...I'm still on the fence about getting these cards, here is my SC Signature at the same clocks that you ran. (I ran it this morning to compare.)

12,484 graphics score.

This new driver does seem to have helped a little, here's my latest:

Do not discuss circumventing RMA conditions, warranty fraud etc.

Talking about trying to get a new card through RMA without it having a legitimate reason has no place on OCN.

As you can see, normally I don't post in forums, but I needed to inform anyone looking into these cards might need to look around a bit more before purchasing. I received one of them from Newegg and it is sub par at best. For one the fans were not attached to to the PCB very well (I can easily wiggle it). Second, the fan wire has somehow been cut (Still works but it's just annoying). Thirdly, I don't know how MSI does their "binning" process but they need to step it up a notch. Even with the LN2 bios enabled all I can get up to is 1272mhz. Now I know some of you will reply and tell me that I should be happy with that and I would agree with you but I also have a ASUS DC2 TOP that makes 1299mhz, is built better, and costs $50 less. I'm hoping that AB 2.2.3 will make me a believer and I will be sure to edit my post but until then I wish that I would have waited.

I'm sure I will get flamed for this but your words will fall on deaf eyes. And no, I will not RMA it since it isn't broke. It just sucks.biggrin.gif

Nah, sounds like you got a bad card. That should not have happened, and I do know newegg will sell used cards as new (which is obviously not cool, it has happened to me before with newegg). Under that condition I would definitely RMA the card, sounds like you probably got a unit that somebody else returned possibly.

Nobody is saying you should put up with a bad card with the shroud not properly attached. Abusing RMA policies is not cool though, it ruins the hobby for all of us - but again, you would not be abusing it in this case. I really dislike newegg for this but there have been a couple times that I received a clearly used card as new, which is another thing I don't like about people circumventing RMA policies - although clearly newegg is in the wrong as well for selling used cards as new. (note - I am just theorizing about why your card is like that with the loose shroud however in ANY case you received a bad card IMHO)

I'm almost certain one of my new Sapphire 7970 OC's from Amazon was used. The packaging was all messed up and the tape sealing the box was open on both ends. Definitely thinking about RMA as this card is way worse than the other in terms of OCing and I paid $470 for a new card, not a returned item....
