Stick with one pump, the difference (in my opinion) will be negligible.

One loop, one pump.

I've not done watercooling myself yet, so consider this an untested newbie thought:

The build log in my sig shows the flow setup I am thinking of using to optimize radiator flow, since it is so much faster than block flow. Plus, the design gives you partial redundancy and partial serial pump pressure.

Here is a simplified version of the concept:
Code:
.---.
| |
|Res| .----------------------------------------------.
| | | |
'---'-+ |
 ^ | .---. .---. |
 | v |420| |240| |
 | .---. | | | | .---. .---. .---. |
 | |D5 | | | | | |35X| |CPU| |GPU| |
 |  '---'-->'---'-->'---'--+-->'---'-->'---'-->'---'-'
 | |
 '--oXo--------------------'

The oXo is an in-line valve that allows you to control how much D5 flow is looped back through the radiator vs how much is used in serial with the 35X. More open would yield a lower DeltaT, more closed would yield higher water block flow.

Since radiators are much less restrictive than water blocks, and the D5 has higher flow than the 35X at low restriction, you could have the water going through both of your radiators two to three times for every one pass through the water blocks. Also, do to the design, you know for fact that all water must pass through both radiators at least once (like a normal serial loop).

[Edit]
Summary:
  • Optimizes turbulance in both radiators and water blocks
  • Uses same radiator multiple times per cycle for improved (lower) DeltaT
  • Grants partial pump redundancy and partial serial pump performance (even with valve fully open)
  • Optimizes flow in both radiators and water blocks
  • Utilizes specific pump characteristics: MCP35X high head, low flow; D5 low head, high flow
  • *Requires more patience during air bleeding (design could be altered to help with this a little utilizing a res with 3 connections)

Very nice and detailed , thnx man wink.gif I'll keep this for other builds etc.

I am on the second hand tempted to go for d5 and XSPC bay res / d5 combo... smile.gif
