LOL @ people suggesting a 3xxx series CPU. rolleyes.gif LGA1155... wink.gif

By definition of price and stock clock speeds wouldn't it just be the 2700K?

edit--major brain fart. doh.gif

Hmmmm. I've had a lot of issues with Ivy Bridge and RAM (even RAM that was advertised as compatible). I just got done building 10 Ivy Bridge workstations at work and about half of them ran into issues with RAM until I updated BIOS. This was using Gigabyte B75 and Asus Z77 boards. For some reason half the Gigabytes worked and half didn't.

Might want to do some SMART tests on the HDD/SSD and maybe run Memtest 2 or 3 times just to be sure. Again, nothing to suggest a CPU issue. Those typically work or don't. You're not generally gonna get into your OS and then have CPU issues. You could try re-seating it just for s***s and giggles though.

You realize that Ivy bridge is an 1155 socket? Stop trolling doh.gif

@OP you should really pin-point the problem, it does not really sound like a CPU issue here. Do a mem-test and test your HDD as well. thumb.gif

Memory could definitely be a possible culprit but it wouldn't hurt to run a chkdsk and a dps test from the bios.
Like the others have said, I don't think it sounds a whole lot like the processor.
FTW :)
