Cooler Master is pleased to release its newly upgraded fan control module for the Cosmos 2. This enhanced part increases compatibility with non-Cooler Master branded fans. It also improves noise and fan performance. All current Cosmos 2 owners in North America are eligible for a free upgrade shipped directly from Cooler Master USA. It is our intent to provide our fans with the highest quality products. In the event of an unfortunate circumstance, we work tirelessly with our users to correct it by applying a balanced effort that focuses on a long-term solution.

How to get the upgrade:

  1. Go to http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/partrequest.php. Enter your serial number from the Cosmos 2, only one replacement part will be sent per serial number. It will be on the rear of the chassis. You could also call 909.673.9880 to contact the customer service department directly.
  2. Request the part as "Cosmos 2 revised fan controller - complete assembly with top cover".
  3. Replacement parts are in stock and will be shipped in order received. USA shipments should take 2 weeks, Canada shipments could be up to 4-6 weeks.
  4. The complete top cover assembly will be shipped. All that is required is to unscrew 4 screws and reinstall the cables. Our customer service team will provide a complete walkthrough.
  5. The fan controller is the improved version

Thank you for the heads up, CM MR HAF. I have a few questions about the controller, though.

1) When we receive the revised PCB and panel, are we required to ship the old one back?

2) I'm assuming there were no changes to help accommodate the LED power connections on most fans which have the same connector end as the wires coming from the fan controller?

3) Not sure if this is possible on the old one or the new one, but is there a way to turn off the audible tone when you change the fan speeds and such? I don't really need the beep to tell me that i've done so... and i think desoldering the small speaker would be a little extreme.

4) Any pictures of the new kit?

Good questions, here are the answers.

1) No you can keep the new and the old panel, we are sending the the full assembly as a convenience. You will need proof of ownership and a valid S/N to submit the part request.
2) In order to turn off the LED light without turning off the fan, the fan will require a seperate lead for the LED
3) There is no change to the tone
4) We will share pictures later for this request

Yea... already submitted my request for the replacement.

As for your response to #2... i'm not sure you understood the question. What i meant was, a lot of people pointed out that while the leads running from the controller PCB have ends with a female connection, just about every fan on the market that has separate LED power leads also have a female connection on the end of those wires, making it impossible to just plug them in and go.

I cant find the Customer Service Serial Number. I got the part # (next to IO area.

... the number next to the expansion slots on the back of the chassis is actually the serial number of your case. The part/model # of the Cosmos 2 is RC-1200-KKN1.... which i'm pretty sure is what goes in the very first box you need to fill in on the parts request form.

Is there any Information if and when European Customers will be able to get a replacement Fan Controller for their Cosmos II?

My suggestion is you call your distributor of Cooler Master products or the Venlo office yourself. They would be glad to assist you. Or you could PM me with your contact information and I will forward it to the responsible parties.
