Cosmos 2 Upgraded Fan Controller now Available in North America - Page 15

Now I feel silly, I double checked everything and I must have imagined that the controller was buzzing when nothing was plugged in. It still dims the led's on the controller though which may have thrown me off (this was just with the front fan led connected). I checked every fan individually and they all buzz slightly and the led's on the front dim more as you add fans but the front fan is what I must have mistaken for the controller because it buzzes quite a bit louder than all the other fans on its own. I have it running off the power supply now and its no longer buzzing but there is still quite a bit of noise coming from the other fans.

So the fans are whats causing the buzzing noise with the front fan being the loudest by far.

Sorry bout that mix up.

I got my Cosmos 2 this weekend and finally got around to installing everything. i checked and i have the newest PCB and also the all black wires. Great....well nope, I powered up my system and none of the fans are working. The fan controller is lit up but nothing is working. The front fan is not coming on, the HDD fans or the exhaust fans are nIot coming on as well.

I contacted coolermaster support via phone and the guy didnt care to troubleshoot, or ask any questions. He just said that I would need to get another controller. Confused....I thought the new controller is suppose to resolve the issues, or have I stumbled onto another issue/new issue???

I submitted for a replacement so now after spending over 1000 bucks on my new build I have to put everything on hold and wait for a replacement that I hope will work.

Why do you people play stupid with top dollar paying customers? ?? You have plenty of those controllers in your warehouse and you perfectly know the "upgraded" controller is worse than the previous one. You send me 2 controllers and 3 new fans and still buzzing so loud I can't sleep. From a dream case this has turned out to be a nightmare. .... you can only dream of me buying anything from coolermaster ever again and I do 20-30 builds a month.......

yo yo

I bought my case today....Awesome case for show, you dig?

Anyways. My fan controller is Black pcb black wires.

Still clicks like the older pcb's.

I am running Corsair SP 120's. Do not tell me its faulty fans. thumb.gif Tested the SP 120's on a Zalman controller, they work fine.

They only click on medium and low speed.

I live in South Africa.

any help would be appreciated.

Peace out

I also have a mix of SP120's, AP120's and Sickleflows. All three types of fan will tick on anything else but maximum settings. I'm now on my second (revised) fan controller with the black PCB and cables. It seems that the fan controller is something of a weak spot. A colleague recently bought a NZXT 820, which also has an integrated fan controller.

He's experienced no problems, even after trying several makes of fans. Let's hope we see a MK3 fan controller from CM that works as it should. The fan controller problem spoils an otherwise very nice case.

CM's support reply on my problem about the Sickelflows that also click.

I provided the part numbers and this is the reply on that..........

"Please note that the fan controller that is included with the COMOS II is meant only for fans without LED or if with LED must have the 2 separate connectors, 1 x 3 pin female connector for the fan power and 1 x 2 pin male connector for the LED power and control.

If you connect a fan with just one connector to the fan control with LED, the amperage is much higher therefore causing the clicking noise you were experiencing. In addition only fans with similar specs will work without issues with the COMOS II, as all the 120mm fans that originally came with the case are actually only approximately 600-1000RPM fans while the Sickle fan model you provided has specs of 800-2400RPM.

Please see another example below:

Sickle fan 1200 RPM VS Sickle fan 2000 RPM

Sickle fan 1200 RPM

Current (Ampere) 0.12A

Input (Watt) 1.44W

Sickle fan 2000 RPM

Current (Ampere) 0.35A

Input (Watt) 4.2W

As shown above the power requirements of both of these non LED version differs by a very large margin. If you were to use the 2000 RPM version it will likely cause the same clicking issue but if you use the 1200RPM version it looks to be still in the same range as the original fans so should not cause the same clicking issue. Hope this helps. "
