Can't add GPU slot for folding (new user)

Thread Starter
Ok, so I followed the guide and set up the client. I went to add a slot for my gpu and when I change the value to 0 I get the "local" can't find this gpu error. So I left the value at -1, which says client will determine what gpu using this, and when I click add I get no error but it dosen't add an additional slot and when I go back into Configure gpu is still unselected. I only have smp slot running. I was using zodacs complete win7 guide. My PPD when computer is left alone is about 15.5k.

Edit: Just checked updated stats after I ran all night.....1700 points.

Tried again, for GPU index I used 0,1,2 and all are saying GPU not found. GPU usage at 1% so it's obviously not folding. Stuck with just SMP....

Edit: If it matters my smp ID under slot is 0.

For the OP, the problem is that for the public FAH, GTX 670 is not supported. I just posted the same situation at the folding@home forums:

http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=22287

You could apply to be a beta tester to try out the newer version that does support it, but for now, no GPU running for those of us with Kepler graphics cards (unless we get into beta program).

Incorrect any Kepler can fold. Download the attached file and put it in your "Data Directory" click Start>All Programs>FAHClient>Data Directory. Then open v7 and add the flag "client-type" "beta"

GPUs.txt 80k .txt file

Sorry Scorched but im not sure how to fold on a AMD card but it can be done.

Ok, apparently that's how you enable the beta. When I do that, though, after a minute or two, my system becomes very slow to respond. Pausing the GPU slot solves it, so it's something to do with that.

That is to be expected. I only fold on my 680 when I am not using my PC for gaming. Glad it is working for you now though!
