Razer Taipan - Page 57

Ok, so I just ran a test in Tribes ascend. Literally on the main menu of the game I moved the cursor to the bottom right of the screen. I tried to flick shot to one of the Boxes on the menu and literally every time I would try to land the cursor on the box the mouse would Float past the box about a half inch. I tried this same thing on 3 other mice and this did not occur. Is this just a serious case of horrible accel? Furthermore, THE BEST way I can explain how the cursor feels when I load up tribes ascend... is that there are Roller skates under the mouse. Literally it feels like the mouse is rolling. Absolutely bizarre.

Again maybe it's something completely retarded I am doing on my end but :O I'll be on later and I'll test out whatever anyone wants me to test.

bradkami is it possible to test the mouse in Quakelive or Team Fortress 2? Both games are free and support raw input.

Thanks for the info btw. Its the most usefull review so far biggrin.gif

Sure I'll try TF2 ASAP. Downloading it now. Recently formatted my computer so it should be playable in about 30-45 minutes or so. I'll let you know.

Also, the mouse in CoD MW3 worked pretty well, but CoD isn't very accuracy intensive IMO, like 1.6.
The mouse worked fine in League of legends and Dota 2 (but I find most mice do)
I have not tried the mouse in any MMO, no longer play WoW and guild wars 2 beta weekend ended.

Also, as far as comfort I think the Sensei, for my hand, might be a little bit more comfortable just because the Taipan has an area on the right side of the mouse right next to the right click that sticks upward and cuts into my hand.

I'll come back and let you know how TF2 runs.

I really wish they had just put the sensor from the DA in this thing. It looks incredibly comfortable for they way I hold my mouse.

Still, my DA:BE looks and feels a million times better than I had expected it to. (got it about a week ago when I decided I didn't want to be a beta tester for this mouse)

This.

If they should ever make a special edition optical Taipan with Deathadder sensor... I'll be the first in line.

I'd still be willing to pay the 80 bucks for years old tech. Because it works.

I know the feeling that Brad is talking about, although funny enough I don't notice it in games. When I first start using the mouse in the morning it feels very floaty and almost slowish. It could almost be described as lag, except that unlike you I don't actually have issues with the mouse not stopping when I stop it. The motion feels really weird, but it is still fairly precise(as precise as the mouse should be, it has a tiny bit of acceleration issues already documented).

After I've used it for around half an hour to an hour it feels completely normal, even if I walk away from the computer for several hours it will be fine. Only when I first wake up and I'm not thinking about mouse movement at all, usually just checking email and such, do I notice it. If it's intended, as Skylit is implying, than I may have to return the mouse. I didn't actually know if it was the mouse or just me being tired in the morning, probably should have asked on here to see if anyone else noticed.

AW: Razer Taipan

Probably it's the opposite.
In the morning you are more sensitive and can notice it. But then you start to adapt. Because that's what humans do, they often adapt.

Exactly, Floaty is a great way to explain how the cursor moves and feels while moving it. I really dislike it and find it hard to adapt to in certain games. Trying TF2 now.

Update: The mouse isn't too bad in TF2. I didn't have too many problems. I felt sniping wasn't really as easy as most mice and skill shotting people in the air with rockets was not very easy whatsoever. Having to swap targets from infront of me to behind me also felt awkward at various stages throughout the few games I played. All in all I don't think the mouse is too bad in TF2 or Call of Duty. For some reason in CS and Tribes the mouse just felt unplayable. I mean, sure after an hour or so of using the mouse I became used to the floaty feeling... but being able to land shots on a strafing target from across the map was harder than it should have been; I cannot get fully used to the floaty feeling and I am not quite sure I would ever want to.... It doesn't feel good. I like the crisp feeling of most optical mice and being able to flick shot accurately. I'm not quite sure why the mouse feels this awkward. Maybe I did something wrong? Oh well... I've requested a refund from Amazon and it should be going back in the next 3-5 days. I'll test it out until I ship it out but it's not looking good :O

Again - I uninstalled Synapse, I'm on windows 7, have Mark's registry file installed, pointer accel is off - default windows sensitivity and I am on a Steelseries QCK.
