Always wondered what they felt like. I am in due for a new mouse but may considered a Naga since it has a bigger grip to hold onto. I need to rest my hand more cuz i my mouse is away from the keyboard on top of the desk and my keyboard is under the mouse area.

Are you referring to a regular deathadder compared to a mamba? If so, they're very similar, where the mamba has additional side grips, but nothing too different.

If you're referring to the taipan... I don't think you can really compare an ambidextrous shape to an ergonomic shape, cause IIRC they're pretty different. Taipan is alot thinner.

So is this a Laser mouse instead of optical? I'm close to buying one but I'm still looking at what else there is on the market. I really loved my death adder, I could just buy that one again.

It is optical, the lightsource is Laser, but still an optical mouse.

Wait wait if you're going by that tautology, do not refer to it as laser and optical then. You will confuse more than you assist. It is a laser mouse (in layman's terms ), but is that what you're really after?

What you're looking for should not depend on whether it is laser or optical (being loose here), but you should weigh it on the pros and cons.

Con: +ve acceleration.
Uses synapse - YMMV but can generally be buggy. Synapse must be on all the time in order to use a very specfic DPI value or access other functions of the mouse.

Reports of lag and jitter correction (or smoothing, not prediction)

Pros: Weight
Shape
Good PerfectControlSpeed (4+ m/s)
Okay lift off distance.

Thanks, I was just reading about all those things too, now I'm kind of on the fence. I had a Razer deathadder which was really the best mouse I have ever used in terms of weight and ergonomics and side macro button placement but the matte finish started coming off (I used it for a good 3 years before this happened) so now I'm looking for a replacement.

I looked around but I couldn't really find anything of my liking. Do you have any suggestions? It doesn't need to be from razer alone

I don't think the taipan is worth all that money.
After the Synapse fiasco, I won't be buying more Razer products (thanks god my Black Widow doesn't need synapse's nonsense).

If you absolutely need it to have more than 3500cpi, the Sensei or the G500 are much better choices.

Still, the best mice arround are the:

Roccat Savu (palm)
Logitech G400 (palm)
Cmstorm Recon (palm)
Razer Abyssus (fingertip, no software)

I was just trying not to confuse the new guy with more complicated terms.

The abyssus, has that crappy software indeed, but also has bottom switches so you don't really need the software (I see the "no software" thing as a feature).
