UEFI hasn't been around that long in all honesty. Not only that, it handles EVERYTHING differently. You don't just simply run driver updates or download the new kernel, it has to be a bit more tailored (from what I've gathered). So it really isn't nearly as simple as BIOS, it does have it's pros though. I actually can't wait to get a new board so I can have UEFI, just don't know much about setting it up as I have no reason too. That and it's easier to setup/maintain as well as help others when you have the hardware.

Not to derail the thread too much, but I didn't think BIOS was all that broken, in all honesty. I mean, there were some shortcomings and sketchy workarounds, but it didn't warrant a design-from-scratch like UEFI is. It's too big a change for very little benefit

well those EUFI bios are relatively new and they control the Os and heard that if you want to install linux don't buy a gygabyte board they do not support linux that all and am having big trouble here to install a ubuntu varient of 12.04, it just don't go that all i get the cd turning see and press install that 'it,it does not go any further and those cd been install before and try different option too , i know it' is this eufi bios there are so pickhe i got a good asrock now after having RMA the first one and it just won't install my linux on it, so will try some thing else like disconnecting my windows drive and see if that help,wanted a dual booting but i guess not .Ray
