Hey hey hey, Cram here for a new "cheap out on your W/C build" tip...
To give you a background on me cheaping out on stuff I used to be a scale model-kit builder (still am but on hiatus) and I always wanted to find cheaper ways to make something or use something that isn't normally used.
So I'm bringing that "skill" to my PC and W/C.
Now most of our W/C parts can be picked up at your usual W/C store but this time I opted for fleabay...which has a treasure trove of goodies for W/C parts.
Anyway I was looking around for pinch clamps for my barbs (yes I know I still use barbs...) for my expanded loop and I ran out of plastic clamps which came with my Rasa 240 kit.
Looking around I found these...
These clamps were too small for my XSPC 1/2" barbs but they were perfect for my PEX brass elbows
So since the first ones didn't fit I had to get another set but bigger and here they are...
They fit my barbs and tubing perfectly...a little bit on the wider side though, so I might be able to mode these to be a little bit thinner.
As you can see the protruding part of the barb is the lip of the barb, so I have to somehow mod the clamp to fit just the bottom part of the clamp...bit then again looking at this picture...
I don't think there will be any problems in terms of water flow as the spring clamps don't actually affect the width of the tubing to restrict water flow.
I bought 3 sets 1x25 for $9.99 CAD + 1x10 for $9.99 +1x10 for $9.99 with $2.25 shipping, now you might think "Man you could have just bought some compression fittings for the price." Well yes and no, my experience with EK compression fittings aren't good...the only compression fittings if I were to get some they will be from Bitspower as my grip on the EKs aren't good. But then again I'm "cheaping out".
The tubes that I'm using are 7/16" ~ 5/8" w/c comes default with the Rasa 240 kit. I'm strapped for cash so I just bought it and it's going on my W/C build.
Feel free to bash me with "cheaping out" hey to each his own right? Just offering an alternative to what we normally use.
