wanting an absolute monster

Thread Starter
Hey everyone I've been reading and reading the forums here and you all seem very knowledgeable and fantastically friendly! I unfortunately haven't been able to get the hang of computers or builds (i do have a friend that OC's regularly and knows all that super fancy stuff) but I don't want to bother him with my next computer I wish to get.

I want to impress him by building an absolute speed demon. I'm not sure which of the newer intel processors are better or which overclock better (I will be leaving that to him) but I was hoping you guys could help me out!

I'd like to put together an intel rig that is the fastest possibly machine there can be (price is no object) I do mainly gaming and emailing but it's going to be used by others that do more intensive things, nothing extreme though like rendering.
The only thing I know for certain is I had my eyes on the new nvidia 670/80/90 series cards and I am definitely getting at least one of those!

Any insight or suggestions would be very appreciated to this newcommer and then maybe I can start to understand what makes these fast parts you recommend, so damn fast! smile.gif

Put a few 500gb SSDs in raid or get one of OCZ's PCIe SSDs
Get 3 massive monitors that are nvidia 3d surround ready and get the nvidia 3d surround kit

Proceed to cry as I realize I will never afford this rolleyes.gif

Well, if price is no concern, then get the best of the best. Right now, the fastest processor is intel core i7 3960x. You will need a x79 motherboard with it. Get a Asus ROG Rampage 4 Extreme. As for graphics card, get 4 nvidia gtx 680 and sli them. You will also need a beefy psu to power all that so get a =>1300 watt psu (Cooler Master Hybrid 1300 Watt). To cool all those extreme components, it will be good to watercool all those but if you find it too much work, then just get a kit or get corsair h100. As for ram, get (4x4)16 GB 2133 Mhz ram. Case - Cooler Master Cosmos 2 Ultra. Put together a list with these components first and post it here then we will see what needs to be modified. Its not everyday, someone like you comes along with unlimited budget and wanting the best of best. biggrin.gif Happy to help. thumb.gif

Edit - Also get triple monitor nvidia surround system. It will be a waste to throw away all that power on single monitor.

1 tb ssd. Get real. A 512 GB ssd is much more than enough. Also get 2x2 TB hdd . Its best combo of speed and storage.
One more thing, why on earth will he need 2 intel xeons. Get one 3960x. Its latest and fastest and will blow your mind off. Don't go wasting your money on mobos like sr-x. If you really got money to waste then get a really cool audio system or triple hdtv setup. Check my dream build (Hokage) tongue.gif. Its not the fastest so you will have to change components as you wish.
