Proposed water cooling build STH10 - Page 2

@ fat italian. thanks so much for this!

Yes, I was looking at the 560s but they are expensive. Maybe I could find the extra cash.

One rad on top and one on bottom but in one loop? That would mean a lot more visible tubing right? I was kind of hoping to keep it as clean as possible.

Cooling this way would be better than sticking both down the bottom because each rad is cooling a separate part of the lop right? Sorry for noob question. I got to learn right? Or is it simply because they would stiffle each other?

I'll have to check out the noise blockers but again, it's a question of money. 12 GTs in England will set me back a fair bit!

I will get a top for the pump, though not sure how it works or why it actually works. But I've read the same point you make on other forums here, so I'll have to read up on that.

QDC on res is a great idea - will sort all my probs (had no idea how to drain or where).

If I go with one rad up top and one below, I just need to work out how to route tubing as neatly as possible.

Also, can I ask you to clear something up for me? I read different ideas about this - some say that there is no temp differences in water loop, and others say stick one component before another because the water will be hotter etc. Does it actually matter what order I put the loop in?

On this point too, does it make more sense to link CPU waterblock to pump as opposed to gpus to pump and then to CPU (as in my pic) because water pressure will be higher and thus CPU will be better cooled?

Thanks for all this input - it's really useful stuff. Much respect.

Hi. Is that a stop on one end? Does that one with the pump or do you have to buy it?

For temperature differences, as I said before, the difference is small, but there. Between a CPU block in and out, I've not seen anything over 1C difference except when flow was really low. Between GPU in and out, I've seen between 1C and 8C, but most are 2C to 5C depending on the card model. Some cards actually have 2 GPUs, and running those in series puts in a lot more heat than cards with a single GPU. The majority of normal SLI solutions I've seen (470, 480, 570, 580) are 2C or 3C.

Is 3C enough to care about? That's up to you to decide.

If you crank up the flow rate (say change a D5 from setting 3 to setting 5), the already small temperature deltas will decrease further.

Not really contributing to the topic but +rep to this. Have the same pump top (OP, it needs to be purchased separately from EKWB and put on a D5 pump).

I think maybe his is an Enzotech? *shrug*
The only downside I see with a drain tube like this would be that while your loop is filled your drain tube is filled with stagnant water. If he hasn't had trouble, it's probably fine, though.

Cool. I shall buy top. Why don't they come with tops???

Electrocutor - you're right, not worth thinking about. But I think I may go for rad on top and rad on bottom, as fat italian says. Might cool better.

As for rads, I am tempted to get the 560s. There goes another 100 pounds.

Bottom Side Rads = 140.4 = 560mm
Top Side Rads = 120.4 = 480mm

Also, the case has open channels on the cable management side from top to bottom, so if you want to hide vertical tubes, that'd be a good place.

Or just 120.5 for top and bottm? Is it better to go with 140mm fans?

120mm fans are typically better as far as noise and static pressure are concerned, but 140.x radiators have more rad space than their 120.x counterparts. I suggest a 140.x radiator with an adapter to use with 120mm fans.
