Antec 1200 - Best Possible Cable Management & Air Flow (See Pictures)

Hey Guys,

So I decided to keep my Antec 1200 (original, version 1) for my new 3570k build. I got a really good deal on a non-modular PSU (yeah I know, should of gotten modular) and had to modify my side fan because my new heat-sink was just too big (Corsair A70). What do you guys think? Is this as good as it gets in terms of cable management with non-modular PSU and air cooling in an Antec 1200? Any advice or comments would be appreciated.

Also, my 3570k runs hotter than most...if anyone can recommend me a better heatsink than a Corsair A70..that can actually fit, let me know! But I am pretty sure The Corsair A70 is as good as it gets for me...probably just got a bad wafer: My 3570k Overclocking Test Log - Heat Chart

East to West: 3 front fans, 1 internal middle fan, 1 side fan, 2 back fans, 1 big top fan, 2 cpu fans, 1 gfx fan + 1 PSU fan (technically, lol) = 12 fans in case (all case/cpu fans running on high settings). I had to modify my side fan to get the Corsair A70 heat-sink to fit into my Antec 1200...see pictures below:

I had that same case, with a non-mod power supply. Yes, unfortunately that is about as good as it gets for cable management.

Here is what I did to mine so I could sell it and make it appealing since it was v1. I cut 3 rectangular holes along the bays so the cables from the fans would go through there.
I made another hole close to the power supply. After that cable management was decent. And to make the cave even better I put a big side window mod and painted it white. I left
the grills/mesh from the fans, the interior and the back black and it looked pretty cool. My friend felt in love with it and asked me to built him a computer with it. Also that mount for the inside middle fan I painted it white and bought 2 more from ebay/OCN marketplace to create 3 wind tunnels. Temperature were really good.

Yeah I figured so..well I think it's still pretty good in terms of airflow, even compared to most newer cases.

The wire covers that were alluded to I believe are Pass Through Grommets Will the Corsair's fit? Not sure. I've emailed Antec about if the Antec 1100 case grommets would fit the 1200. Still waiting a reply.

That's more or less how cable management on that case is going to look.

See how bad the cut job on the Xigmatek side intake looks on the above picture? Well... I did it right the first time, only to realize I had done the wrong side. Kinda got sloppy the 2nd time. Atleast the first time looks nice.

Still not a full shot but with cable extensions and running as much as I can behind the board, it looks OK. It's a miracle everytime I shut that back cable management side panel let me tell you..

^ looks nice! thumb.gif

I have no idea how you fit a Noctua NH-D14 in there...my Corsair A70 is smaller and seems to take up more room. I do levitate my motherboard on pins..maybe they are taller than yours...no idea...

Sorry for digging up this thread, but to the OP, you can get the cable management quite a bit better than that. Here's mine so far (still making it better)
The next thing I want to do is get some sleeved cables for the 24pin and GPU cables. (I don't really care for the CPU power cable) and route those little cables straight under the motherboard.

Wow! That's very nice man! You even have the same PSU as me.

I think I need longer SATA cables...besides that...maybe i will re-investage my cable management to see if I can improve it...yours looks very nice... thumb.gif

BTW - Can you still fit your side fan with the CM V6GT heatsink?
