Dual Channel with 3 sticks?

If I have a dual channel set up right now with two sticks with 4 ram slots...and I add 1 ram chip at the same speed and timings will the the system still have dual channel or will 3 ram sticks disable it?

Putting 3 RAM sticks will disable Dual channel mode. 4, however, will work. thumb.gif

1 or 3 sticks will run single channel,2 or 4 sticks will run dual channel.
