Your fine, My chip runs at 1.49 right now @ 5 GHZ up to 1.53 with LLC 24/7 and load up to 85 C in IBT and Prime around 76C and its running fine. Power savings off also rightnow due to some speed issues with the SSD and C states. Also its just luck of the draw and random dice rolls if you wanna buy into the "Safe" Theory, Iv seen some people degrade at 1.30 Vcore some degrade at 1.35, Some run 1.50 24/7 and have no issues, Personally just run the chip and dont over do the worry about degrading as its so unique and its not worth worrying about. if your really worried buy OCing insurance from intel 20 bucks and you can get a new shiny chip if it dies from OCING.

To be honest, I don't buy it: Degrading @ 1.30 - 1.35? That's well within the 1.375 VID spec Intel set up. Either their chips ran superhot, they had a power surge or they weren't stable to begin with (I think this is pretty much the main cause for most of the degrading stories) ...

I'm going for 5 Ghz right now and I've seen it run 1344 - 1792 for 45 mins fine and the 46th minute it throws a BSOD. Stability is very hard to measure and perhaps realistically impossible when at high enough speeds... who knows.

PS: I do blends as well but not bothering with 12 hr runs while I'm still searching for the best voltages.

Heat kills faster than voltage. So stay below 80-85C when testing and stay below 65-70C when 24/7. (No matter what voltage you use... sort of speaking!!!)

At least that's what I would do wink.gif

But it doesn't mean voltage can't kill... If you give it 2V but leave it on stock speed, it will die too ofcourse...

So you got to figure out if bumping voltage WAAAAY up for that extra 0.1GHz is really worth it...

But in your case, go! tongue.gif

Yeah, my 2500k has been folding 24/7 for about 6 straight months at 4.78GHz @ 1.43v. My 2700k has been folding for about 3 months at 5GHz @ 1.47v. Frankly, I don't think that at 1.38v or even 1.4v is bad. Heck, none of my chips have stayed below 1.4v for more than a week from when I bought them!

Anyhow, to the OP, I'm eager to see what you can do. My 2500k is on air right now running at 4.78GHz, 1.43v at 55C (I'd say max, but it stays at that since it a dedicated folder and folds 24/7). My cheapo MB won't steadily push more than 1.43v under load, so I just bought a new MB so I can try for 5GHz on air. After that, I'm going to start chasing you with a WC loop and see what it can do. Basically, I'm eager to see what a good 2500k can do (and I hope I can try to keep up)!

Here is the answer you seek....

Raise the voltage until your chip dies. Then you will know the limits for your next replacement chip.
