PTE has no accel whatsoever by default.

In fact, if it was properly implemented it would wipe the floor compared to other methods of tracking.

Right now the biggest gripe with it is either Z-Axis tracking (earlier models, 4G by Razer might not exhibit this anymore or might have a very limited effect) and Dynamic DPI scaling, also a firmware by Razer, which changes the CPI on the smallest movements (theoretically it's a good trick so you get less sensitivity with small adjustments, but it feels like accel to some people.
Z-Axis is easily fixable (you only need to check how companies like A4Tech fixed liftoff issues by putting a button on the bottom of the mouse. Could be more stylish making mouse feet being on top of buttons), and Dynamic DPI scaling is a "firmware feature".

Maybe the only problem left is that you need the adequate surface for it to perform, but once you get it, it is quite awesome :
- PCS about 6m/s
- No accel
- No angle snapping
- High cursor quality
- "Low" liftoff

It's not perfect, but it's better than plenty of other offers... And no, it doesn't have accel (at least not the sensor itself).

I just got interested in laser sensors now ^^
To the OP: Why not, I have actually never heard about the mousepad or used it myself, so I would not be surprised if the coating goes off. But it ain't that pricy, so it's more like research.
If that mousepad fails for you, then Steelseries mousepads generally have a good reputation.

Figured I chime in a month later and say that I feel very...no extremely retarded. I kept putting off getting a new mousepad and I'm glad I did. One day It donned on me while I was playing MC with my controller that the controller had a loose analog stick and my Char. would turn on it's own. I disconnected the controller and what do you know, The sliding cursor problem vanishes.
It was the 360 controller causing the problem the whole time! lmaosmiley.gif

Bet this will give you all quite a laugh. lachen.gif
