During video play back with vlc windows media player etc the actual picture will freeze on a frame none specific and it happens on any file format, but the audio continues. This includes youtube, but gaming and anything else is fine browsing the internet regular desktop use etc. I recently upgraded from a radeon 5570 to the gtx 470 out of my gaming rig due to a upgrade. I run the pc through hdmi to a 40 inch lcd, Ive reinstalled os, reinstalled the graphic drivers, tried both from nvidia and also from the manufacturer evga, installed latest open gl and direct x packs, any one got any ideas im pretty sure there might be a forum on this already but im at work on my phone so i dont have much time to look through all the forums.

you might need a codec pack, or to check some settings in VLC.

Do you happen to be using a sound card? I had issues with my Xonar DG interfering with my GTX 470 back when I had it.

Try turning off hardware acceleration in your video software.
