Old hard drive... type?

Thread Starter
So I'm helping a buddy recover an old laptop that had a psu die... I've removed the hard drive but I'm not sure what to use to connect this sucker into a standard computer. I was thinking something such as an external enclosure... but I don't know of any that support this ancient connector. Thanks in advance!!!

It looks like there is an adapter on it. You need to pull it off then you will see the Sata/IDE pins.

Here is a reference:

Yeah... not a fan of Dell. I am working on a Dell PC for a client and they have 5-pin fan headers... so annoying.

From a business standpoint it makes sense. But it doesn't make Dell any more appealing in my book. Dirty tatic imo.

There is.... it prevents the IDE pins from being bent during insertion into a slot.

Touche'!!! That makes sense, but I've never seen it before... too bad it wasn't something ever standardized.
