Looking for a digital cam corder.

Hi all. My son has an out of State banquet to attend in November. He wants a cheep video camera that no one will cry over in case it gets lost or stolen.

Need: Pocket size.
Memory card compatible.
Indoor use.
Good quality video.
< $100.
Possibly telephoto?
Repaceable batteries...AA or AAA.

I know the $100 isn't much, but again, if the camera gets stolen, no big deal.

Any suggestions?

Just found this.... ???

Thanks for the help. But...no.

1) The three cameras you picked, are all closer to $100. Lot more crying involved it it gets lost/stolen. (The RCA is $35)
2) All three mention rechargable batteries. No mention of how long a charge is good for. There is a Sony on Amazon close to your pick that lists 30 minutes of use per charge. (The RCA can get over 5 hrs.)
3)Only one camera mentions a AC adapter. The other two no mention of how to recharge. AC or USB? Don't know if my son can recharge in the middle of a Banquet or how long it takes to recharge. (It takes less than a minute to replace batteries)
4) Granted, batteries might get expensive over time, but this Banquet might be his once in a lifetime oppurtunity to go. Its actually a Banquet, Awards ceremony and a three day Martial Arts Seminar. My son has been picked as Instructor of the Year.

hey only trying to help. figured quality was important when you said 'good quality video'

if you are buying a $35 camcorder considering using your cellphone if you have any newer popular brand smartphone as that will offer matching quality wink.gif

almost every camera comes with a charge cable and if you look at the pictures you can easily find out how it charges wink.gif

also i have never heard of a camera that only gets 30 mins of use per charge if that is the case obviously avoid that camera. im sorry if that is the case had i designed the camera that would not be a problem but i didnt so just look at something else lol

i did not check specs on any of these cameras because at your price point it doesnt matter you are just buying the cheapest camera possible. i only gave you the suggestions to pick from that would provide better results than a cheap cell phone rolleyes.gif

to be completely honest with this camcorder unless you are 3 feet away literally from your son the footage will not be worth keeping anyway. you are going to want a camcorder with good zoom to capture these precious memories but being cheap means not capturing your important memory very well. just saying at a certain point you need to not let irresponsible people hold the camera and then you will not worry about it being lost/stolen
