I did manage to get BOINC running on Crunchbang Linux ( !# for those who know biggrin.gif )
All seems to be well! I didn't setup CUDA with Crunch just yet, but I should also get my GPU back in the game. Now is just what to do about my overclock, I'm think about just redoing it again. First time around I just copied another OCNers settings who had the same motherboard and cpu. wink.gif
I'll let ya'll know if I have anymore trouble but thank you all!

Overclocking Guide - bloomfield and gulftown smile.gif

Edit : you should try to turn off or set as many of the Auto options manually as you can, as most boards will over a just things on auto
especially the BCLK
Most of the time at about 200 -210 things on auto can start bug out, as the boards preset profile does it's magic but for the most part fails rolleyes.gif
Memory doesn't need to be driven too hard to get a good overclock and most of the time memory will only run at or close to what it says any ways

Oh there are so many guides made for this chip! I believe there are actually two guides here at OCN tongue.gif

I do enjoy the one you've linked though, especially the thorough explanation on page two

Bloomfield require the uncore frequency to be, at a minimum, double that of the DDR speed. So if you are trying to get your memory to run at DDR3-2000, you’ll need to have your uncore running at 4000MHz minimum.
Exactly what I said a few posts ago, only they make no mention if that speed is actually stable on the Uncore. I don't think I've ever been able to get stability much past 3.2Ghz on the uncore. We'll see though I suppose. thumb.gif

Just as a last update, still don't have CUDA setup because I'm worried about breaking and having to install flash player from source. But as you can see still running beautifully! That is so strange that it would just error every WU in Ubuntu...

As a side note, from what I can tell, the BOINC client in the Ubuntu repos is actually from the debian repos. I am currently using the debian repo version in Crunchbang. I'm guessing that something the Ubuntu developers have changed in the base debian system is the source of these problems. Might investigate this later...

Edit: The constant fact about overclocking is to make small changes and stability test for long periods of time. It's all very Zen biggrin.gif

It is a total fail, but the fault is with BOINC not providing the properly built library or something like that.

In any case, it's been my experience that Ubuntu will NEVER update the release... it means future fixes will have to be manually installed.

I've still got 11.04 and 11.10 and they run okay... but 12.04 doesn't work at all and NONE of Ubuntu or anybodies other Linux distribution seems to run with the HD6990.
