I heard somewhere that some Hitachi drives had that as a default password. I figured, maybe there was a chance you could unlock it with that.

Ok, thank you guy, I will try it biggrin.gif

It might be possible to re-flash the drive firmware if you had the right tools. I'm guessing it'd be about as complex as unbricking a Seagate 7200.10.

Naturally, the procedure would be completely different, since you have a completely different model and brand of drive. It probably requires different tools too, and is completely outside the knowledge/skills of any of us. In short, I can offer no help with that... and without having worked at a HDD manufacturer, I doubt you'll have much luck figuring it out.

Edit: I wonder if there's a brute force password cracker for ATA passwords?

Unfortunately, I do not have tools like that
and if anything, I can not use it

Edit:
I have done as you asked
but still can not remove the password

Apparently you can sometimes get around this issue by hot-plugging a drive and overwriting its password with a new one.

-Make sure the SATA power cable is plugged in, but not the SATA data cable.
-Power on and enter the BIOS.
-If your BIOS allows you to manually setup drives rather than Automatically detecting them, go to Port 0's settings and set it to Manual rather than Auto. Don't change any other settings.
-Plug in your SATA data cable, so your drive is connected to Port 0
-Go back from that page. Then go to the page where you can set an HDD password. Enter a new one of your choice.
-Save/Exit and then try using that password instead when it next asks you.

Some people had success with it, some people didn't. Whether it works probably depends on your BIOS type and drive.

A long shot, but have you tried putting that drive on an enclosure and let windows boot without that drive, once booted, try plugging that drive into a USB port and see if windows can "see" it. Might be easier to flash the bios, brute force the password, what have you in windows than while on the BIOS or during POST.
