Cheap alterantive to compression fittings_have a look

Thread Starter
So these were pointed out to me by someone on the forums.

http://www.aquatuning.co.uk/index.php/cPath/50

They look decenrt in black nickel. I just can't get my head around what size I would need for 1/2 inch ID tubing. They could save me 200 quid in fittings.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

You didn't link to a specific product, I don't think. Are you talking about the push-in fittings, or just the barbs with black-nickel hose clamps?

theyre not that secure from what i understand

even barbs with clamps are better tongue.gif

I used them a few years ago with 10mm tubing and the connections seemed pretty secure and I didn't have any problems with leaks. I did notice that after a few insertions and removals that the fitting 'loosened' up but not to the point where a tube ever became detached.

Well for one they only come in 1/4" and 3/8". We use the 1/4" type at work for air lines and they aren't something I would trust with a lot of expensive hardware. I've had a few outright break on me and if you give them a good tug the hose will pop right out.

I have these all over the place in my shop, and from what I can tell they're really meant for harder plasticy tubing that doesn't squish once the fitting gets a bite on it. Fittings aren't something to compromise on, in my opinion, and good compression fittings aren't going to wear out, you'll be using them for as long as you're watercooling.

Thanks. Looks like 230 quid on compression fittings, whilst expensive, is probably worth it in the long run.

Thanks again.

Thanks again.

...... Gold plated compression fittings?

Not the greatest looking, but very functional for tight spaces.

And I'm sure you can find them much cheaper than I can.
