When a fix comes out I update the thread.  There are several things happening here:



1 - can't edit the OP

2 - can't paste that exact source into a reply, fails

3 - making a new thread with that as the original post says "there was a problem submitting to the server"

 

So it's not as simple as fixing the one post, we need to figure out what is causing each of these issues ans fix that on the backend.

We might tag this as a "won't fix".  Here's what Engineering has had to say about it thus far:

1.  Less data. 114KB is pretty big for a post body.
2.  Fewer tags. There are about ~4,100 HTML tags in that post.  There's also a lot of 3-deep nested text style tags.

ex: <b><i><font color="#000000">mojosephwu</font></i></b>
A single <span style="..."> would parse faster.
 
3.  Putting that giant membership table into a google doc and embedding said doc would work. Or the table could be split out into a second post. 
 
99.9996% of posts in the OCN database are smaller than this one. There are <60 larger posts (out of 17 million), and many of those 60 are deleted.
 
If we can't reasonably render a post within a certain time limit and memory limit, then we have to reject the post for performance reasons.
