[Build Log] Eye Candy (Shopping List Phase)

Okay so this is it, My official build log. Just a heads up thought this is not a one stop build, it will be done it parts due to my financial status (Unemployed/Full Time Student). As far as parts go I believe I have everything ready to order, just need the next installment of money to come in. This project was supposed to start over the summer, but bills happened as well as not getting as much money as I was expecting.

So I have decided to convert my Excel file to a Google Docs Spreadsheet and just embed that here. It has three tabs, the base upgrade (planned for fall 2012), the Water-cooling upgrade (planned for spring 2013) and the list of items to be moved over from my current rig.

(Contents subject to change)

Google Doc's

I intend to get as close to 5GHz on my new processor as possible stock it is 3.6GHz (Unknown for PD). The GPUs are already OC but I would like to cool them down to a decent load temperature. Eventually I may add a NB/SB water block to my loop but for now it will be just the CPU and 2x GPUs.

I intend on keeping one of my current 460 GTXs and dedicate it to Physx and see how that pans out FPS wise, if in the end I decide it is not worth it I will run a single 670 as seen above in my shopping list, eventually adding a second in for SLI.

I do have a semi-limited budget, all my parts are paid for out of extra money from financial aid, but at the same time I do not want to go too cheap either.

I am looking at a TDP of 166.66 for the BD @ 4.8GHz @ 1.3VC
My GTX 460 runs at 160
The GTX 670 runs at 170
For a total of 496.66

I would like a dT of between 5-2, I know this isn't the easiest to shoot for but its worth trying. If I can't hit that than 7-5 would be my next goal.

For now this is what I have... I will update as There is news to update and of course will still accept guidance and suggestions

I plan on running 15 fans in this build and two 3x120 Radiators.

Note 1: Possible Future Expansion with MM Pedestal which would include the move of 2x360mm Radiators and the edition of another 360. As well as moving the fan controls to the front panel of the pedestal.
Note 2: If possible would get the Pedestal 24 and use 2x480mm + 1x360 Radiators in addition to the two 360s in the main case. I would need a piece of aluminum to cover the back end of the pedestal.

Indigo Xtreme (Maingear Epic T1000) has little benefit on the AM3 platform. Also, they make single packs of Indigo Xtreme now that are available for around $9 so why not go with that instead?

I really don't have "extra" money to spend, this all comes out of my financial aid after rent and bill have been paid for the semester. As for intel, not a big fan always been an AMD fan, hoping that the FX 8350 will be out by the time I start ordering.

I've thought about a custom paint job, just unsure of what I would do.

The single packets just came out, and it would be nice to have the extra in case I mess up the re-flow.
