Any ways to increase PPD?

Thread Starter
Hi guys, been folding 24/7 on my folding rig (sig rig: Red Samurai), and I was wondering if there were some settings I can change to get more PPD. 306

Here's a screenshot, will add more if requested. And I have the stock cooler for my i3, so OCing is pretty much out of the question right now. The stock cooler is so tiny. Keeps my stock speed i3 at 71C full load, 20C idle. Ugh. Anyway, some tips to increase PPDs are welcome

Thanks OCN thumb.gif

Are you running it in a Linux VM? and if you're not using the computer at all, maybe consider simply installing Ubuntu 10.10 x64 on it and folding, both help points signifigantly

Good luck!

Good luck!

I'm running it on Win 7 x64. I also intend to use this as a backup rig, if my main rig is faulty. Maybe I'll configure a dual-boot between Ubuntu 10.10 and Win7 if possible. Thank you for your advice.

On my main box (Cosmos sigrig), what I did was set up a Virtual Box with the Linux client, so I could use it while it was folding, without impacting performance.

Guide here for using a VM (It's a 3930k guide, but everything is the same-- See note below): http://www.overclock.net/t/1259412/win-7-how-to-get-140k-plus-ppd-from-your-overclocked-3930k-on-windows-7

All you need to do is change the appropriate values from 12, to how ever many cores you want to set to folding whenever it comes up smile.gif It works great on my comp anyway (Folding with 6 cores, to allow me to game / surf and what not, with the remaining 2)!

Thanks. Will give it a shot late on.
