the main difference is pcie 3.0 and integrated graphics. Even today's powerful cards can't saturate 3.0. This board should be able to handle 3-way sli or crossfire even if you're planning to drop in three 680 or 7970s. There are a few more differences but its negligible if you're just looking for a great board, with great features, that can support a good gpu(s) setup, and can oc nicely.
The reason I'm going with z77 is that it has a bit more space for air cooled gpu. I don't like to sandwich multiple cards as it just builds up more heat.
