Flashed the router using the latest dd-wrt firmware (DD-WRT v24-sp2 (12/18/10) std-nokaid-small) and I notice a difference in the radius of the wireless, it seems like it has extended it or something. The signal on this Cisco is 100x better than the DIR-625

that s one good part of DD-WRT is as long as you have the hardware it can greatly improve wireless..

Any idea what the TX power should be at for the wireless? I read that keeping it at the default 71 or higher does nothing but make the router get hot, and it should be around the 40-50 mark

i just keep it at default.. as to yje heay issue my linksys e4200 use to get very hot as well.. whaat i did was put small blocks to raise it abot 1CM of the ground which has been keeping cool - warm which works well for me.. you can also use a laptop cooler to help cool it if you want....
