Hi ********,
We are currently investigating the leak of some Last.fm user passwords. This follows recent password leaks on other sites, as well as information posted online. As a precautionary measure, we're asking all our users to change their passwords immediately.
Please log in to Last.fm and change your password on your settings page.

We will never email you a direct link to update your settings or ask for your password.
We strongly recommend that your new Last.fm password is different to the password you use on other services. For more advice on choosing a solid password we recommend: http://www.google.co.uk/goodtoknow/online-safety/passwords/
We're sorry for the inconvenience around changing your password; Last.fm takes your privacy very seriously. We'll be posting updates in our forums and via our Twitter account as we get to the bottom of this.

They put it at the top of the last.fm website about 2-3 days before they sent out the email. Someone who doesn't regularly check their account would have found out on their own well before the email reached them. The hackers got the list of email addresses of members. My email wasn't actually hacked but it was being spoofed. Since the hack I've got twice as much spam and half the emails are coming in with my email in the 'from' section, but it wasn't actually sent from a yahoo account.
On the original topic of the PSN outage, my friend said it only went out for 2 hours, and the website of an official playstation magazine was also down at the same time.
