BF2142 Crashing.

Thread Starter
Ok when i join a game i can play for like 3 min then the game crashed. No error just goes back to desktop. if i get any warning its a bit of an audio stutter and a pause in the game thats it. I updated my punkbuster as it wasn't auto updating, can anyone think of anything else i can do. I already regret buying this game, but since i did i wish i could play it .

I know this doesn't help, but i have the same issue....

I think, once again, we are gonna have to sit this one out til a patch becomes available... Good work DICE!

I think its BS that Electronic Arse made a sequel to a game that even ran right, they just added more features (and 50 patches) to cover up the problems just enough so it didnt crash... and with 2142 with the ad BS, screw Dice and EA... EA has screwed every game they made, they ruined Maxis and Westwood as well as the Sim series and the C&C series, C&C 3 will probably suck too... I might never buy another EA game ever.

But the game play in 2142 is pretty tight, its a cool game, but they need to make a game that should run fine with out having to install a new patch every month.

Well, most of EA's games are alright, however they do ruin a lot of games. Dungeon keeper series, sim city series and many others died because of EA's negligence.

I had the same problem; to fix it try this.

Turn off your VOIP in your audio controls. I belive that that is the main problem. Also, make sure that when you update your punkbuster that you place the HTML files in the "pb" folder found in your Battlefield 2142 program folder, because when punkbuster scans your system it looks in the "pb" folder for the updattes. It should be something like Program Files-->EA GAMES-->Battlefield 2142-->pb-->html.

I'm not sitting in front of my desktop so I don't know if thats exactly the path, but its close enough and will be easy to find. I would recomend saving the updated punkbuster files to the desktop and then transfering them to the pb folder when finished. Next just restart the computer.

That should take care of the problem. If this works for you let me konw and i'll make a faq's page

As far as the Ingame ads go, I haven't even noticed one yet. Sure, the BF2/2142 games have the glitches, but they are still fun as all get out to play. It's annoying to get the occasional CTD, but so what, it takes 2 minutes to log back in and play. Minor inconvienence for such a great game otherwise.
