EDIT 6/10

WOW, this thread took off!

Today I built the computer and installed the SSD. It works with no problems. So far.[However, I am extremely disappointed in Newegg for shipping it that way. It should have shipped in a cardboard box, not a dinky little envelope. Eventually, someone is going to get a broken SSD. It is simply the law of common averages.

I added a poll to the thread. Please vote in it smile.gif.

Shame on you Newegg!

I have no idea why they would ship it like this. It was not shipped in a box, not even a padded envelop, just big brown envelope :-/

The SSD box looks okay, but it does make a rattling sound when I move around. I am going to be be building this rig tomorrow, so hopefully the SSD won't be DOA.

SSD doesn't have any moving parts so it should be fine thumb.gif

Newegg's shipping has been getting worse and worse for smaller packages. I had a Wifi card ship in an envelope it barely fit in with the worlds tiniest bubble wrap on the inside. Card works just bother some.

not for an ssd... it's light as a pencil and the only thing you have in the plastic case is a pcb. also the ssd is well packaged in the bog itself..

it's cheap from newegg BUT no worries the ssd is fine.

my samsung 830 just came like that. i wasnt too pleased about that.
it works fine and the samsung 830 box is a freaking tank but for that kind of money i want padding and some additional security for the device.

You should have seen how many dents my TJ11 had in it.

I would avoid UPS at all costs.

I'm inclined to agree with most people in this thread. Considering an SSD is a relatively expensive piece of a hardware, it'd be nice if they could at least ship it with some semi decent packaging even if the product itself doesn't weigh much. My SSD from Amazon came in a nice box with a lot of foam packaging.

Exactly. Newegg is a very reputable seller and this makes me not want to purchase from them at all. What even drives me more crazy is that I bought a bunch of other parts (Mobo, Ram, 2 Fans and a FX-8120) which all shipped together in a nice big box with plenty of padding. Why couldn't they just put the SSD in there as well?
